I'm wondering if any football historian knows if this has ever happened before tonight.

Now, this can only happen in 3 countries: Canada, USA and Brasil. These 3 countries' FA Cups are Champions League qualifiers. It's impossible anywhere else, since league points are necessary for a CL berth in all other countries.

Tonight, Toronto FC, who have zero points in 9 league games so far, clinched a CONCACAF Champions League berth. Did they make history?
