    FINAL....

    clemson tied 1-1...

davidson was up 1-0 with 8 minutes to go, but clemson scored late to tie the game 1-1.

    UNC next for the tigers.

dwayne jones scored...no westfield tonight cause of a hamstring injury.

    thanks.

Well, not a great result, but not a bad one either. Davidson really is a good program. We shouldn't feel too bad considering they beat UNC and USC. Now it's time to focus on the Heels!

Dwayne Jones has really come into his own these last couple of weeks. Gonna be a great player one day.

    Not that surprising...

Obviously Clemson lacked full focus on this mid-week game especially since it was sandwiched between UMD and UNC. The past couple of weeks have been a difficult stretch and the bodies are beat up and the legs a bit tired. I know the UMD game was very emotionally draining for both teams.

probably more of a case of Davidson sitting back and trying not to lose and that field up there can be very difficult for a team that actually tries to play. Got to hand it to the Tigers they did what UNC and USC failed to do.A tie on the road won't hurt them. Looking forward to hearing the result of the UNC game. Anybody, going to be in attendance that can give a recap.

Have heard field conditions were horrible. I guess the football team uses same field as soccer team and it was chewed up due to the wet weather.

I am sure that the Tigers will be glad to get back to Riggs for the game on Sunday.

A buddy of mine just called, he went to the game. Said the field was the worst he had ever seen, more suited for female mud wrestling. He also said that Davidson but 10 men back and played counter attacks. Evidently, Clemson tried to play the first half, but couldn't combat both the field conditions and the men packed in the 18...

Dwayne was in the U17 national pool for a while, I think in the Landon group as a U14.

Was he just in the pool as a U-17? On www.clemsontigers.com, it says he was on the team. Maybe they just meant pool. He's really stepped it up. Incredibly fast with good footskills.

Well he was on the team, but didn't stay for long. Much too young to be away from home for so long.

He's got something like 4.3 speed and I think he can dunk.

Classic. Forever known as the Landon group. What a damn good team that was.

    Reality

I don't know about this friend that apparently saw the game, but I was actually there the whole time. The field was definitely rough, especially on the flanks where the football teams stand. But as for Davidson packing it in, your buddy must have been watching a different game. The first half, Davidson probably out possessed Clemson 60-40 and had several good chances, including one off the post. Clemson hardly had a shot on goal. The second half went more for Clemson, but without any seriously dangerous chances going either way except for Davidson's goal. Clemson's goal was actually an own goal in which Davidson's midfielder tried to block a cross and it went off his shoulder into the goal. Clemson was lucky to squeak a tie out of this one.
