Can any of you Clemson fans tell me who Trevor hired as his new assistant coach. I heard he interviewed Phil Hinson from Winthrop and I also see Winthrop is advertizing for an assistant position on the NCAA web site. Can anyone confirm? If anyone can pull themselves away from ripping Berson at USC and let me know, I would appreciate it.
I think his last name is Hindson and it would definitely be a good move for his career. He is the all-time leading scorer at William & Mary and the Winthrop position doesn't pay very well, so it would also be a financial boon for him. But, I haven't heard anything "official" from either side.
Could be now, but Hindson's bio at Winthrop stated that he was W&M's all-time leading scorer. Has probably been eclipsed entering 2004. Thanks!
I appreciate the information. I did hear that it was Phil Hindson from Winthrop. Also Hindson is a graduate of from William Carey not William and Mary. I also heard that the the Winthrop job pays close to $30,000 with a car and another $5,000 from camp. That doesn't sound like a bad paying job. He must be making over $40,000 to go to Clemson. I also heard the Winthrop head coach talk about how good of a coach Hindson is. Maybe he will get Clemson back to the Top 10 soon.
Hindson did play at WILLIAM CAREY, not William & Mary -- my bad! As for the salaries, I believe the Winthrop position is around $11,000 for the top men's assistant coaching position and they probably throw in some camps, club soccer, etc., money to sweeten the pot and actually make it "livable". Good luck to both programs this fall.

Just talked with someone who interviewed last week at Winthrop. The base is $22,000 with a car, but no benefits, health insurance, etc. There is also another $5,000 in camps and coaching a club team. Still not a bad deal.
FWIW, last year's Assistant Coaching salary for Winthrop Men's Soccer was $10,904 for 30 hours per week. Around $14.00 per hour.
I hope Trevor runs his soccer camp better then last year. We will never go back to the "elite"camp as my son got put on a team and played a position he will never ever play in his career. He was put there as the team didn't have their fullbacks but was loaded with their midfielders, so it was a real bust for us. The assigned coach didn't seem to care when my son told him he played midfield....just another sorry camp that called itself elite...
