    Clemson and Furman results

At Clemson's tournament, the Tigers beat Gonzaga 2-0 while Furman won what looks like a wild one with Fairfield 4-3.

In Clemson's game, the goals were scored by Dimelon Westfield and Kenny Cutler.

Westfield, a Trinidadian youth international, now has 7 goals and 2 helpers in as many games.

Cutler, the former U17 captain who was written off by many of us (including me) after struggling much of his first 2 years, is now the Tigers second leading scorer with 4 goals on the season.

Brazilian Fabio Tambosi got an assist in the game and now has 6, along with a goal, this year.

And lastly, my boy Ricky Lewis got his third assist of the season and helped the Tigers get their third clean sheet of the season, lowering the team's GAA to 0.82. Maybe, just maybe, putting up some offensive stats AND helping Clemson's D post some bagels will enable the oft-overlooked Lewis to (FINALLY!) get some recognition from the various All-America selections this year.

In the Furman game, the Palladins took 3 different 1-goal leads only to see the pesky Stags tie the game each time. Finally U20 stud Ricardo Clark scored the game-winner late in the match.

Also having a big game was freshman, and U20 player, Chefik Simo, who had a goal and an assist. Simo is now Furman's leading scorer with 4 goals and 7 assists in 8 games. Simo usually plays left back for Thomas Rongen with the U20 team (and appears to be the preferred starter there) but is playing in the MF - presumably on the left flank - for FU.
