This is about the 19th time he's injured his groin, isn't it?

Not sure how many groin injuries he's had... but this is a thigh injury... and he's surely had plenty of these.

So now he's out until the new year at least it seems...
Then he gets to try and come back from a thigh injury in the cold damp England Winter...

I'm guessing he's not really back to playing significant minutes until the last week in January...

What exactly is a "thigh injury"? I know some professional athletes and team organizations play coy about describing injuries for tactical, financial or other reasons, but we don't see that as much in soccer generally, at least in the US, and what would be the reason for US Soccer or Man City being coy about this to US fans?

Just guessing but I'm betting its an injury to his quadricep

    Something like this...
    Either a Thigh Strain or a deadleg/contusion

However I haven't seen reports as to the severity of Claudios...

From past quadricep injuries I've had... they can be truly painful and slow to heal.

Edited to add again... I don't know exactly what Claudio's injury is... just that it was reported to be a thigh injury. So the above link was inserted to answer Charles' question.
