I think the key is versatility. Estrada, Vidal, Isla and even Carmona can play in positions other than defensive midfield.

What do you mean no way... IF he is a starter in a good league like the french one, then he should without a doubt be ahead of players like Millar.

I remember Maldonado used to play a lot of different positions such as right defense, stopper and sweeper as well. However, most of his career he has played as a center midfielder. I think if he plays regularly, he should have a new chance at the national team. Let's hope he signs up for Monaco

there's a couple of things that I think make his chances to be part of the NT slim to none...

- too slow to be the ONLY defensive midfielder in Bielsa's formation...he might be more solid than some of the other guys, but he doesn't cover the spaces as quickly... even Gai Asulin made him look bad.

- even if he was fast enough to cover the central defensive position, he is not quick enough or offensive enough to play on either the right or left midfield position. And he can't play as a 'stopper' satisfactorily either. So this lack of versatility plays against him, as every player on the pitch needs to master at least 2 spots for Bielsa... Which is why you get Jean or Millar or Carmona as starters...doble funcion

- at this point in time, with the rejuvenation of the NT, i don't think we could in good faith to the process have a dude with a ponytail on the team. unfortunately, same goes for LPF

Ojala se quede en europa o vuelva a Brazil, pero a Chile que no vuelva por ahora. Seria un retroceso en su carrera, ademas seria figura con muy poco esfuerzo.

muchos miran en menos a Maldonado, incluso yo no lo queiro ni a 100m de la seleccion, pero es mucho para el fubol chileno. acuerdense que hace un anio y medio estaba jugando la semifinal de la Champions marcando a Jorhn Terry....

la verdad que igual pienso que tendra n ofertas desde europa. ademas de brasil ni hablar. con 29 anios es como muy joven pa volver indefinitivamente a Chile.

en todo caso, colo colo le a dicho que no a jugadores como Valdez asi que quien sabe. SI la intencion es jugar los proximos 5 anios en el colo, bien...si es cosa solamente para un anio (la clausura y luego futbol internacional si es que ganan) entonces no...prefiero ver que contraten a Arnguiz por otro anio y lo transformen en figura en el medio...y esta tambien CAroca...

Maldonado no esta para la seleccion pero puede ser un aporte importante para Colo-Colo.

Well he played yesterday in the Sudamericana Cup and he was sent off by Carlos Chandia, straight red card. Both teams put their reserves squads.
