Another moronic attempt to get more money out of a club by threatening to move to MLS...

Atleast it was MLS this time and MSL.

Even if he was interested in MLS, I just don't see Nicol and Caniggia getting along....

Yeah, because the one thing this team needs more than anything is another starting forward.

The guy is like 50 and not the type of player this league's direction is heading in...no more over-the-hill former something-greats playing in MLS. It didn't work with Hernandez. It didn't work with Matthaeus. It certainly won't work with Caniggia. It's time to concentrate more on OUR youth than their dinosaurs.

I thought that he was under consideration to come to the Rev's a few years ago and he chose Dundee. Not what we need: long haired primadonna & a recovering drug addict who is too old. No more dinosaurs.

Sorry Claudio, maybe a few years ago, but, not now.

Now that Serna is gone, the opening for a nut-case is available!

Cannigia is one of my idols, forever. The goal he scored in the 94 WC match v. Nigeria was as good a strike as I have ever seen. He was a complete player, despite his Kurt Cobain looks and ways. But now, n e v e r ! This team is simply above his level now.

I never thought I'd see myself writing this but it is true.

First, a league spokesperson (for MLS) said that there have been no negotiations or offer or contact between MLS (the league) and Cannigia or his agent. Maybe a team asked about availability but to say he's had an offer is wrong.

Second, I agree that this sounds like an effort to extort more money from Rangers (or at least get them to take a position on his contract for next year sooner rather than later). Note: he (Canniggia) did not say "MLS" in the statement he was actually quoted in. He said "America." In my experience, some European based players use the "America" to refer to all of North America. So maybe he's gotten some nibbles from Mexico (where he'd be a huge draw and they could afford his salary).

Does Nicol get along with any player that poses flair?

Don't even know why we're having this discussion.

I think Nicol has a good sense of his needs and those truly available players who may be able to fill them.

Getting a creative player with flair just for the sake of it serves only the need of the individual player.

No matter how profile the square peg you really can't fit it into a round hole.

No, he never would get along with a player that poses flair.

However, I see him enjoying players that possess flair. ;)

Great point, on top of the fact that the Revs fan base is solid - unlike other markets where they need 'flair' to draw.

Besides, I've heard wind that he's bad-mouthed MLS in the past and swore that he would never consider coming here.

Maybe he meant 'America' in Mexico.

Heh, him and Blanco... maybe they'd fight more than El Pibe and Diallo did.

    ;)
