Update to Clarke interview Some points that were mentioned in the TXCN interview: Expectations: WIN TROPHY, no other comment offered. No time line for Nunez to develop. Kreis - Not far from full contact. Specific quote "One thing we dont have is a NT player". Was asked about this specifically by the one caller who got through along with a question about formation. CC was given the opportunity to comment on it, but instead spoke on the formation question. Prefers 442 over 433, however used the latter formation at the end of the year due to the players available on the team at the time. Some location information at the beginning of the interview, but nothing else of major concern.
Clarke interview. Absolutely no new info. Caller asked about Corey Gibbs yet stupid Brady Tinker couldn't remember the question and brought up the formation of the squad. 4-4-3? I subscribe to the theory that most people not giving a crap about soccer is a good thing, it's like an exclusive club for just a few of us. However, the lack of knowledge and information kills me.
Re: Clarke interview. The 443 was on purpose... Did you notice in his response he said 423? The idea was to rattle him. He's the new gaffer. He's got to be ready for quality media, because it's not always going to be smooth and easy. I'm sure one of the ideas behind not publicizing this appearance in the soccer media/boards was to try to give Colin a chance to get used to the tv/radio thing. He's got to up the tempo and be ready for the curveballs, stay on his toes, so to speak. But I thought he did ok in any case. He's certainly an on-air improvement over MJ. By miles. Besides, you CAN play a 443. You just can't use a goalie. As a Conspiratorialist with paranoid leanings, you must always, in the back of your mind, account for the possibility that the Gibbs issue was skirted on purpose.... ..... ..... ..... But my belief is if it was on purpose, it's because JW/GE/CH want to have a Press Conference fiesta for Cory, or maybe even Cory + the (Latin?) SI at the same time. It can be 3 days after its released by the AP, ESPN and the other club that was invloved but mlsnet won't say a word until some rinky dink press conference attended by a writer from the thrify nickel, the green sheet and 2 interns from the local paper.
