The Netherlands has lost it 2nd automatic spot to Greece from the next season on, I thought.

Turkey is below Holland in the ranking if I remember correctly, so they shouldn't have 3 spots.

Couldn't find the last rankings, so I couldn't check to make sure

You could be right. I was going off of the Access List of UEFA Club Competitions which is an appendix to the 2002/03 CL Competition Rules.

The 2003/04 Club Competitions Coefficient Rankings are published at http://www.uefa.com/avantgo/news,newsId=38404.html.

IF the allocations are awarded strictly according to the place in the table, then there could be several changes...

    The top 5 are unchanged.

Greece moved up from 8 to 6 to take Holland's spot and so they may get 2 group phase spots plus a 3rd round qualifying spot. Holland drops to 7 and may only get 1 automatic group slot and 1 3rd round qualifying spot. Turkey drops to 8, but there's no difference in spots between 7th and 8th -- and it's 2 CL spots -- the next 3 go to UEFA Cup.

Portugal and Russia flip-flop 9th and 10th spots. In 02/03, 9th spot got an automatic group spot with the runner up going to 3rd round qualifying. 10th only got 3rd round qualifying and 2nd round qualifying spots, so maybe Portugal gets the automatic spot this year instead of Russia.

The other big change from 02/03 to 03/04 of Scotland moved from 16th to 12th. 16th thru 26th spots only got 1 team into the 2nd qualifying round. The 12th spot gets 1 team into the 3rd qualifying round and 1 into the 2nd qualifying round. So Scotland may get both Rangers and Celtic into the CL qualifying this year. Norway was the one that dropped down.

Actually, if you look at the coefficients, Portugal is right there with Turkey, but well behind Greece and Holland. I think that the fact that they move ahead of Russia means that they get the automatic group phase spot rather than Russia.

    1. Spain 68.467
    2. Italy 58.668
    3. England 55.459
    4. Germany 52.99
    5. France 42.352
    6. Greece 36.116
    7. Holland 34.165
    8. Turkey 28.725
    9. Portugal 28.249
    10. Russia 27.291
