Frank, do you think that if Portugal nt was at the same level as Cabo-Verde, he would want to play for Portugal.

It's funny. A while back you posted that Benfica sign nothing but classless Brazilians. Yet, you're one of the biggest supporters of the "classless" Brazilian Beto. But, of course, it's no because he's a former Beira-Mar player. Nooooo, that's not it.

Just yesterday, I'm reading that you won't be rooting for Benfica (surprise, surprise) because you can't stand the bitterness amongst Benfica and Porto fans. I'm not surprised you didn't mention Sporting among the bitterness because well, you're a Sportingista.

So, why are you posting in this thread? Getting the animosity out? Frustrating isn't it? You wanted Benfica out of Europe so badly didn't you? Why else would you post here defending your "classless" Beto and backhanded game analysis to make it look like you're a neutral. Be more like the English fans of other teams who relish in Man United's misery and some of us here might actually take you seriously. Benfica won. Go use your Beira-Mar shirt (if you can actually find one) and wipe the tears from your frustrated eyes.

I think that the french nt is pathetic (and a lot of french think the same). Those players you mention were born in portuguese colonies.

what's the difference between the english teams of the 60's and now are that we learn out to play more physical, in the Eusebio days we believe in play finess soccer, we had only physical player and that was Coluna, today we had Petit, Beto, Luisao, Anderson, this guys are not afraid of nobody

I don´t care if the players come from Africa, Brazil, Russia or the moon. NT are for nationals, othewise what´s the point of that kind of competitions.

What a game! Hard fought and two of the biggest disappointments for Benfica came through tremendously today. Who would've thought? Frank Cunha, that's who!

You have to love this game. Anything can happen!

Oh, and for my best Portista friend here who's usually on vacation when Benfica's doing well, can you believe all it takes is...

    2 WINS and 2 DRAWS! :D

SLB! SLB! SLB SLB SLB! GLORIOSO SLB! GLORIOSO SLB!

Congrats to all Benfica fans. I couldn't watch the game but from what I've read Benfica deserved this win. I must be honest and say I did not expect Benfica to come thru in this game. Man U had their best lineup and also needed a win. I heard the ref. didn't call a penalty on Man U... Unfortunately Portugal soccer still won't get much credibility from the UK press despite this great and historic win (1st time in a decade Man U is out in the group stages!)
Meanwhile, hopefully Benfica will get an easy draw, but then again, you can't expect any at this stage. Good luck! ;) I must now visit the BET thread as I am sure TO must be there waiting to see me in red  ...

Good game. You were the much better team today, I hope you go on to win the CL so at least I can say we went out with a loss to the eventual winner. Good luck.

    THIS JUST IN!!

"BREAKING NEWS" as Roy Da Silva puts it!

Ronaldo is officially not going to sign with Estadio da Luz team, SL Benfica. It is rumored that Benfica's president came to the end of preliminary talks with Manchester United after the Portuguese ace gave the middle finger to the fans in attendance of Benfica's 2-1 triumph over Manchester United.

I really thought he was gonna go too. :(

it was only game but let me say they played with HEART thats all they needed when man u scored you can hear the fans boo loudly.... it affected the players and you can see that.

as far as benfica really they had nothin to lose.... noone wouldve of expected even the commentators were alittle choked up that there man u team were lacking zest.

cr well that middle finger gesture came at the wrong time guess as a wrestling term would say hes is turning inot a HEEl.... some people might like it but he iswearing his emotions on his sleeve....

good luck to benfica in the final 16.... youll need it.it was only one game lets see how they perform in the latter stages but without simao fernandes miccoli.... that is impressive.

What a great first half from Benfica...they deserved to win it right there...In the second half Man U did not have any good chances either...

However, that was a pathetic second half display by Benfica...not judging their game here (which was good) but their demeanor, their fair play
The club and the players should be punished by UEFA for their acting...I cant believe the ref did not put a stop to it...every contact with Man U player and a Benfica man  was "hurt," and rolling around in agony...friggin cheaters...and not just one or two guys, but the whole damn team
I have never seen such an obvious display...the ref was a disaster...He let the injury time be 4 minutes...what game was he watching...and there was no play at all in injury time either thanks to the keeper's cheating

Anyway, good luck in the next round where I hope Benfica will be defeated...and to think I liked your club for showing some life in that group of 0-0 teams...
