All home games have to be won, away and we are going to be lucky if we get draws away. Lyon, Kiev specially. I think we might have a chance at winning in Bukarest. Just my opinion

I'm not thrilled about going to Lyon either, but if we can't beat the other 2...home and away then we don't deserve to be in the bloody competition. It will be a battle for 1st place.

I think this group is doable...if it isn't doable, then we wouldnt even have contended for the CL...so while yea there are some easier groups...its not like we have Chelsea and Bremen in our group :p ...hehe...

I was hoping Milan would have a hard group as well since they don't even deserve to be in it...but no they get Lille...figures...

No they lost to Middlesborough in the semis. They acctually won the home leg 1-0 but lost in England 4-2, after scoring the first two goals. That was the game where Middlesborough scored 4 straight to advance.

I think Group C is tougher then Group E.

Liverpool, PSV and Bordeaux all have a chance at advancing, plus playing in Istanbul is far from easy.

In group E, I think its obvious that Lyon and Real will advance, I don't see Steaua and Dynamo beating Lyon or Real.

Seeing that the others thread purpose is/was about the draw i opened this thread for our group only so we can discuss the opponents etc.

    Group E

    1. Real Madrid
    2. Lyon
    3. Steaua
    4. Dynamo

It wont be as easy as we expect. Lyon is going to give us a hard time anyway i see us in first in the group with Lyon coming second.

We have a good bench this season so we can compete at top level in La liga and CL and ofc CDR.

    Hala Madrid!

It's time for Diarra to show his worth against his former employers.

Lyon might come top of the group again if we don't play our cards right.

Does anyone know the likely draws for 1st and 2nd place?

Well hopefully Madrid will have clinched by the time they have to go to Kiev, and the cold and away factor won't need to come into play...

    The group will probably be:
    1. Lyon
    2. Real/Kyiv
    3. Real/Kyiv
    4. Steau

Real could make 1st, but i doubt kyiv could. Lyon are clear favorites I'd expect, although I havent seen the odds.

They are playing Lyon in the first match...away...

Hey quick question to anyone who was watching. When Chelsea were drawn, they weren't able to be put in Madrid's group, so by default they went into Barca's group. Why was that? I missed most of the explanation at the start of the telecast as to why certain teams can't be groups with other teams. Other than the obvious same country rule, what were the others? So basically, why couldn't Chelsea be in Real's group??

It was because of Television. Groups EFGH are one matchday and ABCD are on another. There were already two English teams in EFGH, and one in ABCD, so they had to put the last english team in ABCD to balance the number of english teams on each matchday.

    Well in your case...

    1. Chelsea
    2. Werder/Barca
    3. Werder/Barca
    4. Last team (poor souls, they never had a chance)

Barca could be first, but they could lose away to both Chelsea and Werder Bremen, while vice versa they could get ties at home.

Gotta fancy Lyon to win this group. Their collection of domestic silverware over the last 3 seasons has been impressive, and their success in Europe last year gives them an experience advantage.

Madrid are sure to come in second though as the other two teams will just be happy to be there.
