Heard a rumor that Chrono is coming to Charleston. Regardless, what are your memories of him. I know he moved to left midfield from defense, but how did he do? How's his work rate? Personality?

    Thanks in advance

A healthy Chrono would be a great asset for the Battery. He was a fan favorite. Great pace (again, when healthy), always good to the young fans, nice crosser of the ball.

Works hard, but has been slowed by nagging thigh and knee injuries the last few years. For a while, no one could cross from the left like Chrono! Needs help covering due to those injuries. He was great with the fans. Loves to win!...of which he rarely saw while here.

IMHO Chrono is a much better midfielder than defender. When he was healthy and on top of his game he was great at chipping in with goals from midfield. When he was traded to the MetroStars last year he was asked to play left back and his play suffered. I don't know much about the quality of play in the A-league but if Chrono can stay healthy I think he'll be a very solid pickup for you guys.

Still remember the game that Chrono ran almost the whole length of the field to keep the ball in play, crossed it and Joe-Max put it in the net. Even though he was hurt alot the last couple of years, I felt bad that he was not here when the Revs finally got their act together.

Thanks for the comments. The Battery made it official yesterday. We are looking for a good midfielder with the ability to cross. We have two great target men up front (Paul Conway and ex Richmond Kicker, Josh Henderson) that should really benifit from a few good crosses.

Its good to hear he was a fan favorite, thats one of the best things about the a-league is accessability to the players. After all the home matches the players head up to the Three Lions for some post match mingling and they all seem to help out with the local youth teams.

A-league is very competative but there are a few whipping boys out there. And the Battery has beaten it fair share of MLS teams in Exhibitions and Open Cup play. We had he number one defense last year, but injuries caught up to us in the post season. Hopefully Chrono will stay healthy and I can watch him and Terry Phelan (ex-man city and ROI) terrorizing the left side with their overlapping. We are playing a exhibition agains DC United on Mar. 29 and it should be webcasted if anyone is interested. check out www.charlestonbattery.com and look for the webcast link.

    Thanks again

    Hello Mikey mouse

I just wanted to pass along how much we enjoyed a trip to Charleston, along with a Battery game over Memorial Day in 2001.

Dan Calichman lived in our town during his stay with the Revs, and we became close with Dan and his family (he was especially supportive of my goalkeeper daughter, even attending several of her high school games). After the trade to San Jose and subsequent move to Charleston, we spent a few days visiting them and we also got to see a game.

The facility is wonderful. Nicest pitch I've ever seen for soccer in the U.S, wide, long, and perfect. The stadium was first rate, nice seats, and unlike MLS resonably priced food and drink.

After the match we were up in the Three Lions, and had great fun. Especially the signed jerseys from all over the world.

When we left, my only comment was, "if I lived here, I'd have season tickets and join the Three Lions.

Good luck to you guys this season. If Chrono is healthy, I think you'll be happy to have him with the Battery.

By the way, thanks for loaning us John Wilson for that one game last season. He looked pretty good in that game, but I didn't see him on your current roster, Mikey. Is he still there? or was the Revs game just a fluke performance?

Thanks for the kind words. We are proud of our little club here. I wonder how many casual fans know how lucky we are to have Blackbaud Stadium and the organization that we have. I was sad to see Dan retire, he was always a great guy, I just wouldn't want to play against him. I think the Battery have done everything right over the last ten years. Season tickets have been up each year. The pitch always is beautiful and like you said its a great facility. And we have attracted steady intrest from the USSF, hosting the U20 WCQ last fall and our second USWNT match, this one against Iceland sun. on ESPN2.

My wife is British and when ever her friends or family are visiting we take them to the Three Lions pub. They are amazed by the collection of memrobillia and the access we have to the players. My sister-in-law (big EPL fan and used to steward for the Spurs) was thrilled just being in the same room with Terry Phelan and was even more amazed to see his wife and kids just hanging out with everone.

Johnny Wilson is a fan favorite. Althought he still not on the roster, I think we will see him here if a MLS team doesn't pick him up. He is a local boy and really plays with all his heart, and likes to take the ball up field and isn't afraid to take on people with the ball. Just to prove his caliber, he plays on the back line with Jamacian captain Rudi Dixson; ex Canadian, Mark Watson and ex Rep of Ireland, Man City, Terry Phelan. We had the number one defense in the A-league last year, and now we have two great fowards, a great coach, and with Chrono signing, we look like we are going to have a good midfield that can supply crosses into the fowards.

On a side note, I think you guys had a rep. down here for the three different weeks of trials we held here in Jan and Feb. seen any new faces that may of been here?

    Mikey
