Do we need them? WHY??????? One is well past his Prime, the other has played on almost every team in the league. If we saw fit to release them before, why would we take a bunch of steps back and try to get them again. Why don't we also see if Goulooze, Swatsky, harkes and Diaz Arce are available.
Chrono is signed to Chucktown, and anyway he doesn't fill any needs here, IMO. I think Andy will stick at Fire, although I for one would give him another chance.
Although Chrono might be a little past his prime, he is still a very good left mid, which is something we've been sorely lacking. Of course, Ralston would still take most of the playmaking duties, but it would be a little comforting to have Teddy on the other side as another option. But for now, I'll wish him the best of luck with the Battery.
Chrono's definitely on the downside of his career. As for Williams, there's probably a reason that he's been on so many teams. The only reason I'd look at him is because I'm not sure that they'll bring in a better attacking mid for a trial.
I'm not sure that he's past his prime - I don't think anyone really knows because he can't stay healthy long enough to show what he can do anymore. The problem is that he's had 1 mostly healthy season in about the last 5! The sad part about Teddy is that when he finally matured as a player, and they stopped trying to make him a fullback, the injuries just crushed him.
What's he doing in MA? I have seen Chrono at the Forekicks indoor soccer facility in Norfolk working for them this off season. Why is he spending time in MA? And why is he working at an indoor soccer facility? I think we could use Chrono.
I wouldn't be upset have Chrono back, injuries and all.....when not hurt, at least he could cross from the left....something we still don't have.
A (relatively) big deal has been made of no formal MLS/A-League agreement this year. I suspect there will still be movement of players between teams. It will just be done on a case by case basis and separate deals negotiated for each player move. Negotiation ....... novel concept for MLS teams but standard fare down here in the trenches. The Battery seem to have relationships with Colorado, DC United and the Revs. Colorado = Hankinson = ex-Battery coach and one of the club's founders. DCU and the Revs are both coached by Englishmen and the Battery is owned, coached and managed by Englishmen. Both DCU and the Revs have trained and played exhibitions here in SC. So, I look for player movements between these teams this year.
Not to pick nits, because Nicol made his name in England with Liverpool, but ... As Steve might say, "If it's nae Scottish, it's crrrrap!" An ye cannae dispuuute thet, Jemmy... Tom
