http://www.fck.de/de/aktuell/news/details/article/9576-christian-tiffert-verlaesst-den-fck.html 1.FCK official team website reporting a 3 year deal and other reports suggesting he is a designated player. Also a scouting report from a month ago detailing how the german midfielder may slot into the Sounders lineup. http://cheekybackheel.com/2012/06/2...-speculation-summer-12-transfer-window-opens/
Confirmed by Richard Motzkin on Twitter. He is saying Tiffert is a DP, so I guess we will need to see what is happening with one of their existing DPs.
Should be a good signing. Based on the comments I've seen from FCK fans that has been stopping by the Sounders' forums he was the best player on a very bad team last season and that is why he went from having the most assists in Bundesliga two seasons ago, to very pedestrian numbers last season.. With EJ and Montero in front of him, he should be very dangerous in setting them up to score goals...
I never watched Tiffert playing but I watched many other BL games and what I read about him it should be really good fit for Sounders. Welcome CT to Seattle!
in 'Merica and MLS, our soccer contracts typically run until the last day of the 12th month, not the 12th day of the 31st month, mister!
Rosales is not a DP due to salary. Maybe they amortized some of the loan/transfer fee/what ever is making him a DP and perhaps that will be completed soon, no longer making him a DP.
I suspect Rosales got a pretty large non-salary compensation and that is what is making him a DP. While his salary is low, that isn't the only thing that counts against the salary cap. However, his total compensation is not that far above the DP line, so if it is possible to buy down the contract of a DP mid-season, that might be what they did.
Fernandez was going to be loaned to Cali, but that supposedly fell through. It might heat back up now that Tiffert is in bound. Also, it isn't clear if Tiffert is coming on a free or not. There seems to be some confusion because FCK said that they released Tiffert from his contract vs. sold him.
If Flaco doesn't leave, then he's a DP. And Montero is a DP. So Rosales CAN'T be a DP. I wonder if that should be "or." To my eye, it isn't just announcer hype/narrative, they really haven't helped each other. They've probably got about 3 more matches before Sigi has to make a decision. Given Montero's work rate, maybe the best thing would be to play EJ for 60, then tell Montero to work his ass off for 30. Or vice versa. That way you get 90 minutes of Grade A striker play.
Montero has scored 0 goals without EJ being on the field at the same time. Also, anyone that says Montero has a work rate problem hasn't been watching the Sounders play since Ljungberg left the team.
Flaco is gone. he just tweeted. via translation " Seattle sounders thank you very much for these 2 years of life. I get many positive things and most importantly I get real friends."
The other shoe drops. Fernandez says goodbye: Muchas gracias sounders seattle por estos 2 años vividos. Me llevo muchas cosas positivas y lo mas importante me llevo amigos de verdad.— Alvaro Fernández #15 (@flaco_fernandez) July 27, 2012
And the Sounders had better not be bending over and taking it.. Whatever team is getting Flaco just got a lot better.
Well, Chicago Fire get another Seattle DP. Hanauer must have their GM on speed dial. http://www.soundersfc.com/news/articles/2012/07-july/fernandez-traded-to-fire.aspx The price was allocation money
Hopefully for Seattle, it would be enough to buy down Rosales into non-DP territory or to bring someone in as a non-DP.
