It should be noted that Stephen Glass was sacked almost immediately after Aberdeen's Cup loss. They are out of all three competitions this season and are sitting 9th in the table. They've had a miserable start to 2022 and Glass was under huge pressure. If not for Ramirez they would be in real trouble. A shake up at Aberdeen is underway. Barry Robson was named as the caretaker while a coaching search is ongoing. Rameriz posted a simple F*** in his reaction to the sacking on Twitter.

More importantly, one of Aberdeen FC’s most legendary performers took some time out of his busy day to take a photo with a long-time, elderly fan.

Too used to MLS fans supporting all the league’s teams in continental competition?

He also wasn't aware that Aberdeen and Rangers fans really hate each other. It's not as well-known as the Old Firm rivalry, probably because Aberdeen have a much smaller fanbase, but it's not a lot less intense. A Dons player tweeting compliments about a Rangers success is a short route to the doghouse

It's the England v Scotland of club rivalries. The majority of the animosity comes from one direction.

Can Ramirez play at the level required at the World Cup? What's your intuition?

From the article, it looks like he was all in with Stephen Glass as Aberdeen coach and has failed to establish any rapport with new coach Stephen Goodwin. Glass spent 3 years coaching with the Atlanta United organization and had reportedly identified Ramirez as the No. 1 target for the style of football he wanted Aberdeen to play.

That style was a bust and Glass was canned in late February but results haven't improved much - only 2 wins in the last 11 SPL games. Goodwin is Irish and has a reputation as being the nicest, politest guy you can possibly be while succeeding as a coach - but not one bit nicer. He has very clear ideas about how he wants his teams to play that worked very well at small clubs like Alloa and St. Mirren, but the adjustment process at Aberdeen has not been easy and it looks like the relationship between him and Goodwin have broken down.

With his family having already gone back, it looks to me like he'll be released as soon as the MLS window opens.
