I do not think that is true but, sometimes, Milan is a bit slow reporting injuries. He moved quite well for most of the match but, when he cam off after the third goal, he did seem to ask for some treatment. I never listen to pre or post match drivel so, if they said anything, I would not know.
Christian Pulisic breaks records in the Champions League and stuns USMNT fans https://mlsmultiplex.com/christian-...ions-league-and-stuns-usmnt-fans-01jdn0pfc337 I did not know about his lead in Champion's league goal scoring but, maybe, I just was not paying attention.
Who is stunned that he's the scoring leader among US players in Champions League? ETA: I guess you didn't know (not sure how), but were you stunned?
Regardless of how he played, I think Christian Pulisic should have gotten a better rating than 6 just for the goal he scored.... Americans on Tuesday: AC Milan 3-2 at Slovan Bratislava • Christian Pulisic (6), 75 minutes, 1 goal Eurosport was a little kinder.... Of course, Christian is now indispensable for the Rossoneri. Milan's push (forward) came entirely from him in the first 45 minutes. He was perfect in finalizing the counterattack triggered by Abraham's midfield play and scoring the momentary 1-0 (from the 74th minute Ruben LOFTUS-CHEEK s.v.)
We had this debate when one poster said there's NO WAY Pulisic will ever be one of the finalists for the Ballon d'Or (which is a long list, by the way). Maybe not this year. But it sure is looking like the football world is increasingly aware of his performance level for club and country. I don't know if it'll happen this year. But if he has a STRONG second half of this club season, tis possible. It doesn't help that Milan is sitting in 7th in the Serie A table. [This is FIFA and not UEFA, so there's more democracy here. There's an MLS presence on this list.] Christian Pulisic has been nominated for the best FIFA Men’s XI in the midfield. 🇺🇸 pic.twitter.com/9aXSAZIKAd— USMNT Otaku 🇺🇸 (@USMNTOtaku) November 29, 2024
In Euro or World Cup years, the award usually goes to the player who was a main protagonist for his national team or rather, who played a major factor in having his team advance far in the tournament. In a non-Euro or WC year, it usually goes to a player who does the same for his club but mostly in the European leagues. As far back as I remember, winning the (CONMEBOL) Copa America and Libertadores never really mattered, and the (Concacaf) Gold Cup was never considered. Ballon d'Or It would be nice to see Pulisic as a finalist of the Ballon d'Or but I doubt he will ever win it unless he leads AC Milan to winning the Champions League.
I see two American flags above Pulisic Do Acosta and Almada make this list if not for Messi... they should send him flowers
We were discussing all time, not 2024. And goals, not points. And are you really counting Jonathan David? C'mon.
You obviously didn't understand the discussion in the first place and probably not the intent either. It's lame to force David into this discussion.
well Pulisic had an off match today. he did not get any good shots off, although he had four, and he missed sevral passes and passing chances. But, even with the poor match, he did get an assist. We need more players whose "bad" matches are this good.
Still around .6 to .7 npxG+xA, even if the assist came off a deflection when he challenged for a header. Last season in half his starts he put up .2 or less.
He also won 8/10 ground duels and was fouled 4x. He nearly scored several times and was critical to generating several additional opportunities. Agree with some that he lacked polish today, but he was very influential.
The 8 “ground duels won” are the 2 successful tackles, the 2 successful dribbles, and the 4 fouls won.
I was slightly disappointed with his performance today but I also was feeling he mostly held the midfield together with his effort and perseverance. I particularly remember a ball he lost on the dribble, i think, and he did not pretend to be injured, like a lot of players do, and he did not put his head down and sulk like many others also do, he remained focused and ran back and recovered the ball and started another attack. That was one instance but there were many others where a "mistake" was quickly followed by some kind of recovery and thwarting of the other team's attack. I said he had a "down" match and he did. But he was one of the two or three that was always looking to improve situations. I also think he knew that he was a little off and knew that he was not at his best. First my Italian is poor at best and my lip reading is even worse but at one point in the second half I think he asked another player to take a free kick. He is the least "self important" "star" I have ever seen play since the great "Sir Stanley Matthews." I reread my original post about today's match and i see that it could be construed as not liking his play today. My intent was to say he had a somewhat down match but played very well. I was kind of afraid his coach was going to sub him but he did not. I think, without him in the match and drawing all the attention he gets, Milan has a good chance of the match becoming 3-2 or 2-1. I think Milan wins anyway but Pulisic's presence made it much less questionable. I guess that means that I am nearly as smart as his coach.
All I know is Pulisic is about to win USMNT Player of the Year for the 5th time. He's our leading scorer in 2024. That would push him past Donovan into the most in the history of program. Right now Donovan and Pulisic have 4. Dempsey and Keller have 3. Howard, Altidore, and Balboa have 2. If voters want to be cute, and not give it to Pulisic, Antonee Robinson would be a great choice. Recency bias might make Pepi a contender, but Pulisic was better over the whole year. We really nitpick with Pulisic because our expectations keep increasing and increasing and increasing. I'm old enough to remember when AC Milan was legitimately the most revered club in the world. For those of us whose foundation in the sport was mid-80s to mid-90s.......AC Milan is the pinnacle. That was honestly the best club team I'd seen until Messi's Barcelona. So for me, as an older guy, having a USMNTer be one of the best players on AC Milan really means something special. And we had two guys, TWO, start for AC Milan yesterday. When I started following the USMNT we were losing to nations like Bermuda. I was in the stands in 1991 when we lost to Bermuda. I've been waiting 30 years for revenge against Bermuda. We haven't played them since. [As a further aside, Bob Gansler was fired as USMNT coach after that Bermuda loss. Bora was hired...............] Now we're talking about how Christian Pulisic had an off night starting for AC Milan.
20 & 15 - Christian Pulisic (23 goals, 15 assists) is the only Serie A player to record at least 20 goals and 15 assists in all competitions since the start of the 2023-24 season. Aglow. pic.twitter.com/EyBUkX3ALW— OptaJack⚽️ (@OptaJack) November 30, 2024
US midfielder Christian Pulisic to be examined for calf injury with AC Milan https://apnews.com/article/christian-pulisic-injury-ac-milan-9b6c321bdcbd97d0a8e13ced029b8ada The injury happened in the first half and Pulisic was withdrawn. It did not look too serious as he walked off the field with little assistance and the tackle itself looked pretty innocuous but calf injuries are kind of tough to judge. I once had one that I could walk just fine with and even run a few yards but if I tried to jump or make a quick direction change it quickly became almost unbearable. It is even possible that the actual injury happened earlier in the match and was aggravated on the tackle just before he left the match. The article says he may be out three weeks or more but that kind of injury, if confirmed by the scan, can be very hard to heal. My injury took almost 6 weeks to recover from but Pulisic has much better doctors and much better diagnostic tools available than i even dreamed of way back when I had my injury. It is even possible that further testing will reveal that the injury is not as bad as first thought or it could turn out to be worse. Modern diagnostic tools can be very good at isolating injury kind and cause and we will know more after the tests are done.
A rest for the rest of his body and mind isn't a bad thing. He had a fairly short break after the Copa then 24 games since the start of August.
As long as it's truly a short-term injury of 3 or 4 weeks, it wouldn't be a bad thing for him, and he could come back strong in January. It's too bad that he'll miss the Champions League game next week, though. Milan need that win.
Conceição’s appointment makes it twelve different manager stints in Pulisic’s professional club career 😳 pic.twitter.com/hRo3YIAuzl— Golazo America (@GolazoAmerica) December 30, 2024 Christian Pulisic is only 26. This is WILD https://t.co/ntTmCnmdql— Tom Bogert (@tombogert) December 30, 2024
12 club managers and how many national team ones? I wouldn't think to include interim but on the club side they are because I don't remember Bruno Saltor at all. Does that make you a good candidate to be a coach yourself or make you want to disappear afterwards because of the constant chaos?
