You have to understand... these statements are meaningless. Even you talking about them and posting them here means they've won. It's purely to fuel their jobs, get some headlines and attention, and drive engagement. Who even cares if they mean it? Who cares about their opinions? Especially Lalas! I mean if that guy actually means even 60% of what he says during a broadcast or on social media, the only course of action should be to disregard everything he says.
And this is why Poch is a top coach and those other guys aren't. Posh keeps his eyes on the prize: 2026
Coaches need to look at the big picture and players need to run through walls. Different mentalities and thought processes are required.
I gotta believe the number of guys we have hurt right now and the number of guys we've had get hurt over international breaks played a role in sending players back to their clubs early and being overly cautious about physical capacity. What we just saw in Mexico is that we NEED a healthy squad to be competitive. Anything that supports players taking care of their health is a positive to me. I don't think it would have been unreasonable to keep them around in the locker room or in the stands to show some solidarity, but I have absolutely no problems with keeping players whose bodies are over stressed off the field for a friendly. Now a competitive game I may think differently, but this was a poor time to push guys until they break. Overplaying them in this friendly may well have created longer term problems when we have Nations League coming soon. And we definitely want players healthy and playing regularly as they get ready for 2026.
Pulisic seems unbothered by the controversy... don't blame him for wanting to get back to Lake Como "I’m loving Italy. Italy’s changed my career around. Just the club as well, Milan, just so enjoyable. The fans, the stadium, the San Siro, I’ve never seen anything like it, man."Christian Pulisic is loving life in Italy 🇮🇹❤️ pic.twitter.com/tytF5YgymW— USMNT Only (@usmntonly) October 18, 2024
Not much ridiculous stereotyping going on here I see! I don't think Americans can take a 'high horse' when it comes to food!! A nation that has the fattest people in the developed world, all kinds of banned substances in its food, McDonalds as an example of US food and CHEESE FROM A CAN! :-O
“Keep balling out in Italy king” seems pretty cringeworthy to me as U.S. fan who just watched a terrible outing against Mexico.
I don't know about Poch being a top coach, but those guys are from an era when even a single USMNT paycheck constituted a large part of their annual income. To CP, that check is just a nice little bonus to his substantial wages. People are acting like this match was something other than a makeweight friendly with a regional rival. For those guys, the USMNT was the biggest stage they ever played on, for CP a friendly should be little more than a distraction from his REAL job. You know that thing about carrying the scoring load at AC Milan. These same blowhard assholes were likely okay with LD going on walkabout during World cup prep qualifiers and incensed about LD being dropped from the Brazil squad as a consequence. Mental health, physical health, mental fatigue, physical fatigue, all matter. Being proactive now about managing the load on his body seems intelligent to me. The game had ******** all meaning other than saying we beat a neighbor that is a third of our size. A neighbor that we now beat regularly with a full strength squad.
It was Phil Jackson who used to always say he’s going to treat everyone fairly but not the same. Pulisic is our best player and if they feel like he was overloaded you don’t want to play him a friendly when you’re increasing the risk of injury. Team is not going to be successful if he’s hurt. Feels like because there’s been one window and not much to go off people are reading way too much into these things.
This is just a clickbait argument. They may feel somewhat that way, but what is really driving it is the outrage economy.
By the way, it's a goal or an assist in 7 consecutive games now, the most of any player in a top European league.
Post-Suarez, Liverpool sent Raheem on vacation! During the season! I mean he still left to City, but he also was their best attacker by far & had played the most minutes through half their season. Yeah, being the best gets certain perks. And I love that from Jackson, "fair but not the same".

📰 @Tuttosport: Christian Pulisic emerged as a leader, covering every inch of the pitch after Reijnders was sent off. Exhausted but with a smile, he joked, "I’ve played everywhere, maybe I’ll ask Maignan if I can be the goalkeeper next!" His commitment and positive attitude… pic.twitter.com/CODKAn6G9u— Milan Posts (@MilanPosts) October 20, 2024
I think he already tried that and got shot down by Pioli. Though I suppose it's worth asking again now that there's a new coach.
Pulisic has now scored directly from a corner kick. It still will need some review to be sure it was not touched by any other Milan player but it sure looks like it went straight in from Pulisic's kick. I "think" that is the first "Olimpico" that he has ever scored at the pro level. To be honest it did not look like it was intended but many of his corners look like they are given a "chance" to go directly in. His scoring streak continues.
