Roma ready to throw away 50M Euros on an overrated and overhyped English footballer. What's with the Serie A clubs obsessions with overhyped English footballers? What does this have to do with Pulisic? Reports are Roma is also pursuing Pulisic.
This would be highly uncharacteristic for NYCFC, especially since they're still paying for a new stadium that won't open until next season. Sounds like gazzetta throwing crap at the wall to see what sticks. They also did this with Wes every time he negotiated over the last 3 years.
They will also need to pay Milan around 20M to 30M Euros in order for Milan to let him go. This will be MLS transfer fee record.
Don’t see them getting €30 million when he can leave on a free next summer. If I’m Pulisic I like 5/50, but I don’t love it. What I’d love is $75 million guaranteed over however many years they want to stretch it out and a thin slice of ownership pie.
Looking over the article, the only time they mention 50m is in the title and url...Is that supposed to be salary? Or the 50m for the transfer fee? If it is 50m salary over 5 years, I'm guessing it would be 10m net because that is how italians refer to salary. 5m per year is just a little more than he is making currently...10m net is very good money but I can't see him taking that right now. I think he wants to get back to the Prem and prove some english people wrong for some reason.
None of us know if he'd want to come back to the US now. But I also don't think 50/5 is all that enticing for him. He's already on 5M/yr net in Italy which is similar to 10M/yr pre tax in NY. At 27 he's gonna get 5M/yr net anywhere he goes whether in Italy, England or elsewhere. Seems to me an offer he can't refuse would be in the 15-20M/yr range in MLS. That MLS type contract would also more than likely be on the table for him after the next WC when he's still only 31.
The deal about Zlatan is that it's hard to tell whether he is really that narcissistic or that's just his PR image. "He scored 5 goals in 2 games, and I scored zero in two WCs", phrase surprised me.
Maybe for less years, but probably for higher annual salary. Neither I'd expect him to go to a mediocre MLS team like NYCFC.
Yeah, the thing that makes me most skeptical about this rumor is NYCFC's involvement. Not the type of transfer they're known for, and it doesn't quite make sense with their current situation. If it was January and the rumor was for a summer free-agency signing ahead of them opening their new stadium, I might find it easier to believe...
You obviously haven't benefited from the insights of several of our enlightened BS posters who argue that he regularly cracks under pressure.
The only thing I could imagine about NYCFC being attractive to CP is it's not a terrible drive to Hershey Park, except in weather.
FWIW, reporting indicates that Milan is about to pay PSG upwards of 60m for Goncalo Ramos. That is a lot of money for a bench player the last 2 years.
Milan needs to make Christian the face of the team and build around him. If he can keep himself healthy (and with a steady hand in charge) the club can compete
Fab is already at "here we go" stage. Allegedly he's doing a medical now (edit: but not at Milan because, duh, World Cup babbbbyyyyy). In addition to being an expensive bench player, Ramos is another guy who prefers to play second-striker... he isn't gonna win headers and hold up the ball with back-to-goal but rather look to combine and try to get the ball at his feet. Very much in the mold of Santi and Nkunku NOT Giroud. I thought they had learned their lesson after bringing in Fullkrug on loan last winter. While NF wasn't good, he was someone CP and Leao could target with crosses or play off of when he held up the ball.
For a club with limited funds we sure waste a lot of $$ Does this mean leao stays?? Read that gerry wants leao, puli, and lukita all back
Cardinale and Guintoli have a bet to see who could waste more money. Douglas Luiz, Koopmeiners, Nico Gonzalez for 150m and selling Huijsen and Soule was a pretty horrendous transfer window.
