Blows the narrative that Pulisic is tired and nursing an injury if he plays in a meaningless end of season game.
Who's narrative? He's been nursing the hip flexors for a long while now. Now he gets the rest he needs to finally heal. Sitting today and playing in the Gold Cup or some friendlies wouldn't get the same healing result. The best player for the USMNT, who's proven his dedication and love for country over and over has earned this. The core team has played with him so often already and the US should be able to get to final for Cup without him anyway.
Today’s win for Milan was worth between €1.5 and €3 million depending on how Fiorentina does tomorrow. Also, have none of the people saying this ever exercised or played a sport before? Certain injuries are fine day-to-day but need a long time off to actually get better.
Tho it is not actually completely meaningless, as Milan jumps Bologna, who lose today, and potentially Florence, if they don't win their final game (if Florence tie it will set up a tie in pts and GD - what's the next tie-breaker in Serie A?) Not sure what 2 table spots gets you in Italy, but it wouldn't be nothing - I'm sure one of our Italy specialists know. If Florence loses Milan holds 7th, (Edit, see above as Arsenalmetro answered my question telepathically as I typed.)

Man he sure looks... nevermind. In real news it looks like 1st Serie A tiebreaker for league table is head to head? So if Florence tie they get 7th. Is that correct.
Then he should have started the "long time off" after the last game instead of risking further aggravating the injury. You stated the game being worth 1 -2 million but was injuring the asset Pulisic worth the risk?
Do you mean getting into European competition? This is what I found online... If Inter wins the Champions League, Italy will get another spot in the UEFA. Currently, Italy is in second place in the UEFA Association rankings, which determines the extra spot in the tournament the following season. Roma, which is currently fifth in Serie A, will also benefit from Italy's extra slot. Italy earns 5th Champions League spot for next season because of overall success in Europe | AP
No, I just meant if Florence ties tomorrow. Milan and Florence will be tied on points (and on GD) but from what I saw Serie A's table tiebreaker is head-to-head (could be wrong - there's Serie A folk here who would know better) and Florence beat AC back in the fall, and they tied the other match up. So from what I saw, if Florence loses, Milan stay in 7, but if they tie or win, Milan slips to 8.
I think you are right…. If teams are tied on points but not for the top or bottom places, head-to-head points, goal difference in head-to-head games, overall goal difference, and the number of goals scored will be used to determine the final standings. I do remember a playoff game in 2000 though involving Inter and Parma in what was Roberto Baggio's last game at Inter it was to determine the final CL spot. Marcello Lippi wanted Baggio out. Baggio scored two goals and Inter qualified saving Lippi's job but Roby didn't want to play for him anymore so he left for Brescia. They were tied on points and Inter scored 1 less goal so they had a playoff. That was 25 years ago and it was for a Champions League spot. Not sure if the Europa or Conference Leagues merit the same type of playoff though....
That article is from last year, Juve did get a 5th team (Bologna). This year the top two leagues are Prem and La Liga and they will both get that fifth spot. Newcastle and Villarreal, I believe will be getting in as 5th placed finishers.
Correct! That article is old but this phrase is from now… If Inter wins the Champions League, Italy will get another spot in the UEFA. Currently, Italy is in second place in the UEFA Association rankings, which determines the extra spot in the tournament the following season. Roma, which is currently fifth in Serie A, will also benefit from Italy's extra slot. At least from my Google search..
Hopefully this comes off as help and nothing more but Florence is the city, Fiorentina is the club in Florence.
Interesting, I haven't seen this anywhere. Which country is going to lose a spot if that were to happen?
I’m not sure I just looked it up online. If Inter wins the Champions League , does Italy get another spot? Then that came up. Whether it’s true , accurate or not, I’m not sure.
Meaning CL = Conference League or another place in European compeiton. Guess that is better than nothing. Maybe Milan and/or especially Fiorentina , after all these years , will finally win a trophy!
Yeah, I know, but we also call clubs by their city name and I'm a crappy speller and lazy. Mostly the later.
