I want someone with more time and smarts than I have to cross-reference "It's ok Pulisic is taking time off from Nats" posters with the "Landycakes" posters. Just curious.

The two cases are obviously different.

    Because reasons. Also, factors.

Remember the reasons and factors. It’s pretty self-explanatory, tbh.

Here's my rant....Yes and the fans have the right to complain or question the players commitment to the team. As much of a right, as the player has to turn down said call ups. The Gold Cup may be small beans to you, Pulisic, many others on this team, and the rest of the world. However, it is our regional tournament and is important here.

And tbh I think its probably the most important it has been in decades. Especially since we have a new coach and staff. Especially because of recent performances of this team. And most especially since the world cup is a year away and there is limited time for this group to be together during actual competition. And it should be important to Pulisic because he is the Captain of this team.

Perhaps he is injured, fine take the summer off. But come out and say you are injured and cannot play. But don't come out here and say you're "tired" and expect the fan base just to be cool with it. Don't say that shit to working class Americans. Because guess what? everyone is tired, we are all ********ing tired. The difference is you get very well compensated. You have the best Healthcare on the planet. You eat the best foods. You are paid gazillions of dollars. And we would all love to sit out on the beach at our million dollar Miami mansion for two months of the year.

Finally, could you imagine Lautaro Martinez, MacAllister, Fernadez or Julian Alvarez turn down a call up to represent Argentina in Copa America or Nations League or hell any International competition because "they are tired"? The Argentine fan base would eat them alive. Imagine Scaloni coming out saying its cool our best player and Captain isn't going to be with the National team because he is tired. Instead he's going to go sit on a beach in Rio for a couple months. We really want him to be ready for his club next season. No ********ing way! Lamine Yamal, a literal child, played more than a thousand more mins than Pulisic this season. You think he turns down repping Spain in any tournament because he is tired?? No ********ing way.

    Fair point

As for captaincy, I never see Pulisic as armband material for either club or country. Sure he's very talented, but it takes more than just talent to be a great leader. Neymar is probably twice as talented as Pulisic, but never was a leader.

Quoted merely to add emphasis to my rep.

And I don’t know what pisses me off more…Pulisic doing this…Poch accepting it….or US soccer defending it.

Did the last 4 years not happen?

Just wow! I don't even know how to unpack all this. Wherever he plays next season he needs to be fit and in top shape to start the season.

First, the days are gone when our top players need to supplement their income with USMNT appearances. Second, the Gold Cup means F...all. Not a bad time to learn about the pool, but not a good time to push any key players who have played significant time this year and mostly need rest and recovery to prepare for the upcoming season.

Here's my crazy hot take. It's possible that different players have different needs at different times in their career and careers are short and professionals have a lot of folks monitoring them and there is nothing in CP's history that suggests he wants to slack off or doesn't love to play for the USMNT so maybe it's ok to let people do what they and their advisors think is best if they have no dishonest or nefarious intentions.

I admire your passion and respect you have a right to complain if you see fit, but I guess I just see more of the player side of this, or at least I’m trying to. Just a few thoughts in response.

    1) I wish our A squad was playing in the GC, but I can’t Conflate my wishes about it with the actual reality that some of our players do have a lot of mileage in their legs from this year and they want a rest to thrive for the next season and excel at their clubs as they prep for the WC, so they bow out of yet ANOTHER competition, which brings me to my next thought.

    2) Let’s not skip over the fact that FIFA/UEFA/CONCACAF, the Various leagues all continue to add more and more matches on the plates of these players, competitions to make max profit and TV dollars. These guys are getting worn down, so we can treat them like Video game machinations and talk on this board. Hey, I enjoy it. But my ass is i
On the couch with a beer.
The Gold Cup no longer matters as much as it used to, now that the Confederations cup was cancelled, and now that Nations league is generally considered the tournament to Confirm a regional champion.

    3) sorry, the Yamal comparison makes no sense to me and is not persuasive in my eye. Yeah, the kid is a 17 year old Ferrari with younger legs who burst into the scene recently. Of course, he’s more likely to play crazy minutes and be up for countless competitions.

    4) I take your point about using it to prep for the WC, since we have a dearth of competitions to prepare with. That’s fair. I can see why you may view it as a lost opportunity.

Milan reporting to end season in the red. the TR to Citeh talk continues. 55 mill+ territory suggested.

Reijnders, understandably, is the biggest point of interest, and he seems the most likely candidate to depart at this point. €55 million was the suggested bid last week, but you would hope that the Diavolo hold on for a record fee, at least.

    https://sempremilan.com/man-city-advanced-talks-milan-reijnders-deal

    At the same time...

Journalist Alessandro Jacobone has claimed that TIjjani Reijnders would never ask to leave AC Milan, due to his attachment to the club.

    So... pick your Sempre...

He’s turned down and/or left early from more national team camps than pretty much anyone other than Darlington Nagbe and Timmy Chandler at this point.

Curious if Milan will sit out their starters for their last game.

It's a meaningless game, maybe start their youngsters and backups instead of risking their starters right before Summer transfers.
