Pulisic starts! Coppa Italia Final in Rome, Milan v Bologna. Official Milan XI (3-4-3): Maignan; Tomori, Gabbia, Pavlovic; Jimenez, Fofana, Reijnders, Theo; Pulisic, Jovic, Leao. Bench:Torriani, Sportiello, Thiaw, Walker, Emerson Royal, Bartesaghi, Florenzi, Terracciano, Musah, Loftus-Cheek, Chukwueze, Joao Felix, Abraham, Gimenez, Camarda.
I don't *think* that's right, but I repped it anyway. I want to believe. Think Wes had 7 in Serie A, which puts him in the top 15. Puli tied for 4th with 9. Thuram led the league with 13.
Look at that lengthy bench! Milan can't wait to send both Felix and Tammy back to their clubs this Summer.
How about Bologna beating Milan 1-0 and winning the Coppa Italia? Does Joey Saputo get any credit now?
ACM figured out Bologna mid week and lit them in the second half .... So Bologna brings out a bunch of fresh players and amps up their 1 vs. 1 approach and executes it flawlessly .... and it exposes ACMs gaps .... Bologna deserved the win and they should celebrate it proudly. Pulisic 6.1 FOTMOB - fair frankly ... but the whole team stunk it up ... and Reindeer has not had a good game in a month .... Theo gets a 7.3 - when he loses his man and taps the ball loose in front of the box so the goal gets scored? That rating makes about as much sense as CPs yellow card. the ownership needs to figure out the coaching situation and what they expect, needs to figure Zlatan's role (disruptor in chief it seems - and it isn't helping), needs to figure out Theo and Leao' ... there is still a team dynamic that seems like a 8 cylinder with 2 cylinders just off timing ... I can't tell the character of this team .... until it gets fixed and figured out - the Rossoneri are just going to struggle.
Only caught the 2nd part of the 1st half and the last 30 of the game, but Bologna was pretty physical and Milan just had no flow. They needed a magic moment from Leao or CP or someone, but never really got the chance in the time I watched. CP was working hard, but never hit his stride the yellow card he "earned" at the end of the 1st half when he was being pulled down while trying to break in on goal was emblematic of the Milan game - they just didn't get the breaks and this game they needed some.
Sochmel Che Bulagna! (Dal 88’ ABRAHAM SV) Christian PULISIC 4.5 – Was spent. A bit overshadowed throughout the match, contained by Miranda. Booked for protests in the first half. In the second half, he creates nothing. (From the 88’ ABRAHAM N/A) Milan-Bologna 0-1, le pagelle della finale di Coppa Italia: Freuler ... Christian Pulisic voto 5
I agree with this post, but just wanted to point out that I’m almost certain Theo will be gone this summer, and I have a suspicion Leao may very well be also
I think leaostays, they hope he has better season and value increases. Not sure who wants theo?? Middle east?? Reijnders definitely out. Possibly Maignan too. Don't want another donnarumma saga
My data comes from ESPN Soccer. Pick Serie A, select 2023-2024. Then choose Statistics to see the rankings. If you go to Weston, you can pick Serie A, 2023-2024 and see the individual games where he got the assists. They have Puli with 8. It's certainly possible ESPN's data has errors. Regardless, he's only third alphabetically after Dybala and Leao ... so we shouldn't give him that much credit!
I just saw the reports you've alluded to that Man City want Reijnders, and the word is that he is Pep's top target. Who knows if that is true, but if it is, yeah, he gone.
Here's the official Serie A site Puli tied for third with 8, one behind co-leaders Dybala and Leao. Wes tied for 7th with 7. So, we can confirm that FBref, ESPN, Transfermarkt, and the official Serie A website not only have different results, they all have different numbers from each other. I think we'll have to say Serie A wins as they're official, and Wes wasn't top 5 (he wasn't top 5 anywhere but ESPN). Pretty hilarious though. Also of note, since I'm looking at the data anyway: Puli and Leao I think are tied for the most assists in Serie A over the last 2 seasons, which I guess means I shouldn't rag on Leao so much. Mind you, I will still do so, but I probably shouldn't. There were three Americans in the top 20 in assists in Serie A last year. Jeremy Toljan slips in at 20 with 5 assists for the season. I had forgotten he existed. My apologies to Mr. Toljan.
With the dysfunction at Milan I don’t think they can attract elite (or at least very good players) who want to come to AC Milan, and without CL - actually, without any European competition at all, just added reason for top talent to go elsewhere. Much as I love Pulisic, he alone can’t bring trophies to Milan. Sucks that Pulisic’s prime years might be spent just spinning the wheels, but not really going anywhere.
Yeah, it's a bit bittersweet for us long-suffering YA supporters waiting for our superstar. We had the best guy on a normally top team this year, but the team wasn't good. What are you gonna do? In CP's case, you suck it up and give it another go next year. What will happen next? I don't know, but I do think that although we often disagree on here, we can all agree that there's a certain individual who needs to hit the highway: https://football-italia.net/ibrahimovic-under-scrutiny-milan-cardinale/
Money talks and they're going to get a boatload of it for Reijnders if the Man City rumors are true. Maybe sell Theo and Leo. Spend wisely, convince a couple of studs on the long term vision and things could trend up in Milan next year. Obviously there needs to be a long term vision and the dysfunction needs to lessen for this to happen, but clubs regularly turn things around after having disappointing seasons. I'm not really sold on Conceicao either, though I guess a full preseason might help.
