Was reminded of it by this quote from the Musah thread but you do you! https://sempremilan.com/musah-hybrid-position-fonseca-tactical-key "Not many would have predicted it at the start of the season, but Paulo Fonseca seems to have discovered a new tactical key in Yunus Musah.
I think it’s pretty cool - and this is a friendly space most of the time. Please keep your negative personal judgements to yourself.
A loss today I think knocks us out potential top 4. Just too much to overcome. Basically three teams going for 2 spots
https://sempremilan.com/why-pulisic-pivotal-for-milan-atalanta "There has been a lot of talk about Tijjani Reijnders’ form and Yunus Musah’s role, but Christian Pulisic will be the main man for AC Milan against Atalanta. That is according to Corriere dello Sport (seen above), which writes this morning about how Pulisic is the ‘extra man’ to hurt an Atalanta side that seem unbeatable. Pulisic is Milan’s ‘anti-Gasp’ in view of tonight’s match at the Gewiss Stadium. It is not just because of his fantastic numbers, either. The USA international will be a tactical key, because – as Paulo Fonseca highlighted in his pre-match press conference – Atalanta play an aggressive man-to-man style. Thus, the former Chelsea man will in fact operate between the lines in a role created specifically for him by Fonseca, who has always wanted him there since the beginning of the season because he is more decisive in tight spaces than the other options. With eight goals and six assists in 19 games played so far, it would be fair to say he has continued his outstanding form. In general, no player has done better than him in Italy since he arrived last summer (23 goals and 17 assists)." Edit: Is the bolded below really possible? "However, he hasn’t scored in the league for exactly two months, the away game against Fiorentina more precisely. What could help him tonight is having the license to roam and drag the La Dea defenders around, given they must stick to man-on-man assignments. If he can find the right position to receive the ball and then continue doing what he does best, then Milan might get some joy against the team that have won eight in a row."
It is, but it’s harder to notice because he keeps scoring in the UCL and has assists in 3 of the last 6 league matches.
Pulisic and Musah start against Atalanta. A chance for the Rossoneri to reassert themselves as a top side this season.
Subbed off at 36'. Took a hit to the back of the calf and went down clutching his lower-calf / upper-ankle. Looked pissed coming off the field.
To me it looked like an ankle injury that will be described as a foot injury. SempreMilan used the H-word in one report, but that wasn't my impression.
I am afraid this is true. Unless they have a miraculous surge in the 2nd half of the season. But I wouldn't be too optimistic.
Ugh. Terrible news. Things were going too well. That said, supposedly only "hardening of the calf" which sounds like something you do before slaughtering it. https://prosoccerwire.usatoday.com/...ilan-star-forced-off-vs-atalanta/76827673007/
