If he is fined a few thousand euro, that will be that. If Theo is stripped of the captaincy, it will be talked about the rest of the year or longer.

If I was making the amounts Theo is making, I would imagine losing that little amount of money is nothing compared to the humiliation of losing the captaincy after 7 matches.

Well, keeping him as captain after cooling break-gate and Triple PK + Red Card-gate may also continue to receive negative attention and come across as the coach has no power. Along with his generally selfish play, he seems like a terrible choice for captain that's earned a demotion.

Especially if it’s done properly, in a public ceremony - something like the opening scene of Branded.

I have no idea why he was chosen as a captain, but as @Rossonero23 pointed out, it doesn't seem that Milan have a glut of options.

Maybe Maignan or Morata can step in and take that role? Morata is already the captain of Spain, so why not?

Musah speaks Italian and would never take the ball from Pulisic before a PK, so he is the only logical choice for captain.

Not gonna happen, but certainly funny. Speaking Italian is probably a prerequisite, and I am not sure how CP's language lessons are progressing, if at all.

I'd absolutely make him captain, nothing funny about it. He's their best player, and he plays his ass off. The only reason I'd personally be opposed to it is that it might tie him to closely to the sinking ship that is Fonseca.

Being captain is about a lot more than being the "best" player.

Soon CP will have to pass a note to Tammy that says “Do you like me? Choose 1:

    Yes_______
    No _______
    Not sure ______

Let's not forget Fonseca already had to bench him like a month ago due to low effort. So that doesn't work.

Now as captain he is costing his team points and allowing stuff as ridiculous as a loan player to openly dismiss and ignore the manager.

    1. Fonseca needs to take charge.
    2. Theo and Leao' need to grow the hell up.
    3. Pulisic can help but he is quiet and small in stature (hint he just is not Messi who can walk around) and I just wonder how much they will listen to him - especially because (a) he is American and (b) he is typically quiet and not rah rah ...

the fact that Theo AND Tammy did not hand the ball to Pulisic to take the PK is surprising ... not that one of them did not but that BOTH of them did not.

I think it has to be theo for seniority quality of the player. Can't have a shitty player like Calabria as captain imo. But theos performance up and down so far this season, but overall milan career, I'd say he's been a top 5 left back in world soccer.

And yes I put theo ahead of any English overrated turd

there is a problem if your senior player is a head case (Theo) then that is not good for the club. When Giroud was on the pitch I just don't think we saw Theo acting like he now does .... Fonseca has some serious decisions to make .... don't envy him at all ....

What's Maignan's reputation in the lockerroom. Seems well-respected on the field, is a vet, lock starter... Can curse out Theo in their native tongue. Give it to the keeper!

That is sometimes done, but remember, new rule means only the captain can speak with ref. More need for captain to be a field player.

It’s not an American issue. It’s a how you carry yourself face to face issue and do you demand respect.

As others have said, Tammy wouldn’t have tried that shit with Dempsey. Bradley also had a commanding presence.

    Agreed.

Not a Nationality issue, but rather a personality issue.

Pulisic, to me, seems like the type of guys that prefer to avoid conflicts and just keep his head down and work hard.

Which is good, but not what a leader or captain is made of.

Yeah, it's not perfect, but really, how often does talking to ref do anything anyway? Aside from the "big" Milan personalities, I don't know the rest of the guys that well. CP is not, to my mind, Captain material yet. Maybe if he puts in a few more seasons.

Fair enough, I was overly sensitive to the pass/shot thing. But, I never said the thread was filled with negatives about him. I think there are some points throughout his career that have been critiqued with well reasoned arguments and information by some knowledgeable posters.

Apologies for derailing. Back to futbol.

I could not disagree more with your take on the qualities it takes to be a leader. In fact, the harder and more leader like thing to do was to simply let the others take those chances. If CP had caused a scene by trying to take the ball from Theo or Tammy it would have looked petty especially if they proceeded to miss despite CP being the designated taker.

As a counterpoint to your take, please recall the Venezia match where CP was up for a second penalty kick and gave Tammy the chance in order to get him involved. That is what a leader does.

Or, helped create an atmosphere of players doing what they wanted with PK's.

Last year Guard I old chewed out Haaland for handing over a PK to Gun do an even though he was designated taker. Harland thought it would be nice for Gundo to get a hat trick. Pep said this is business and the taker is the taker.
