Yeah, I thought it was a shot when I saw it live, but floating a ball back post is a well-rehearsed, dangerous move there whatever the brain is computing at the moment.
I feel the same. Good ball to direct just inside the post where a variety of good things could happen even if slightly off target.
Someone needs to make a guide to YA Inside jokes thread with history, explanation, and links. This one I've never quite gotten.
People were making fun of me early last season for being concerned that he was averaging about a single touch in the box per match. I said he needed to be more involved in the box in order to maintain the level of production to that point. After about 6 matches, Milan figured out how to get him more involved higher up the pitch and stopped relying as much on doing everything down the left. Instead of people saying, "Hey, maybe FCT was on to something because Pulisic is having a helluva season now that he is more involved in the attack," the opposite sorta happened and my concern has gotten turned into a pretty tiresome joke. Tiresome for me anyway. It seems others enjoy the hell out of it.
Um... explanation, uh... shaded for effect. lol. But yeah, that is the gist of it, tho I, for one, rarely tire of these longstanding inside quips. They are the thing up which a common culture is forged! (or something like that, I'm sure...)
“For his part, Pulisic can and must take on more responsibility to become the leader of a group that must come together quickly.” https://www.google.com/amp/s/sempremilan.com/longo-pulisic-lack-respect-unacceptable-penalty/amp
Talk about cherry picking. Hopefully others will read the full comments and not rely upon your post alone.
So to summarize the last few pages, the guy we’ve always hoped would reach his potential is on that trajectory and we’re stuck on “not a leader” and “it was a cross”. Folks, this is why we can’t have anything nice.
Have you seen the YA injury list lately? This thread is -- and I'm knocking on wood typing this -- about the only refuge for positive thought.
Seriously. The guy is scoring bangers and world class goals consistently for Milan now, I will try to enjoy the ride. We’ve been dreaming of having a yank in this position for decades.
No, criticism is necessary for dialogue, when warranted. But with all due respect, your quick jump to “I don’t think he meant it” after a beautiful goal like that was a tad cynical imo. But you’re entitled to that view. In my perspective, him holding his hands up after the goal was not a “aw shucks, lucky me” gesture. It was a “I’m in the form of my life and I’m a badass.” But no way to tell for certain, I suppose.
Fair enough. I just thought the announcer went over the top and I commented on the possibility that it was a cross. I’m agnostic on what his intent was - and I am curious about what he might say about it. It was a beautiful goal regardless. I am happy that many here have the confidence to believe it was 100% intentional and to appreciate it as such. The dude is in awesome form.
Milan fans in the threads that I'm seeing are most annoyed at Abraham, Theo Hernandez, and Tomori about this, along with Fonseca. And they pretty much all have Pulisic's back.
As I'd expect - the others missed their PKs and Milan lost. If you take the ball like that, you can't miss. Period.
Spot on. I actually think Tammy is a decent Pen taker, from what I recall at his time at Chelsea. And his penalty Sunday was not bad, just a great save. BUT, if you wrestle the ball from the designated penalty taker, and miss, well, that should be the end of your PK duties henceforth...
