There were better options available. I'd take mad max over this fool. But I guess he's the cheapest option. Sigh
I don’t know anything about this guy. But I do have a sinking feeling that Ibra undervalues Pulisic. Good thing his performance has ingratiated him with the fans. That ought to keep him secure for a while.
Not impressed by Ibra so far He needs to convince gerry to open the wallet but Redbird has no ambition to win anything. We need blood money
What has given you the feeling that Ibra undervalues Pulisic? Inferiority complex? I think Fonseca is a pretty strong coach. I liked what he was able to do at Roma. @Rossonero23 is probably correct that the hire isn't very ambitious and Milan might not win anything with him. Milan will play aesthetically pleasing football and continue to be top 4, IMO.
Wish away! I care most about the ongoing development of our two players. Would you consider adding a third?
Ibra is a crazy good (and crazy) footballer, and I have 0 interaction with him personally, but I would for sure be concerned that he would be a capricious and unrealistic manager/boss. I hope I'm wrong, but I would be very wary of giving that guy the keys to anything. (and I don't mean literal football manager, I mean a guy who gets to run or has serious input in running, anything involving underlings.)
I am with you on this. If I go into battle, I'll put him on the front line simply because he's BAD ASS. But I wouldn't make him General and command the battalion.
Couple things Fonseca would not have been my first choice but RedBird wants a coach who 1) Plays attractive soccer and 2)Integrates youth . Milan has officially registered to have their u 23 team join Serie C so it's a huge part of the project... I also am pretty convinced part of the reason Pioli was let go was because when there was an injury crisis some of the young prospects Milan have didn't get more of a look. I think I saw a Stat that said Fonseca's Lille team had the most cleansheets and the most goals last year in Ligue 1. Fonseca had also shown a flexibility openly admitting that he couldn't play the 4 2 31 he wanted at Roma and switched to a 343. Ibra has a say in Milan but he's not running the show. He's there to be a connector between management and the locker room. Geoffrey Moncada is one if the best scouts in Europe and is the Technical Director for Milan. Giorgio Furlani is the CEO and gives final approval on all moves. Again Ibra has a say but he is not the guy. RedBird has said multiple times they want Milan to become self sustaining. Yes they have publicly stated the goal is to qualify for Champions League but they've also said they want to consistently be in Champions League to. I wouldn't say it's fair to say RedBird isn't ambitious they just have their model. They don't want to overspend. The model is what they did last year with Puli, RLC, Reijnders, ect. By all accounts Milan management has given the go ahead to activate Joshua Zirkzee's release clause of $40 mil (reported hold up is agent wants $15 mil commission), they targeting Mats Wieffer whose highly rated from Feyenoord, and also strangely Matty Cash. Tldr. Would have gone different direction for manager but I get the reasoning, Ibra isn't calling shots, Milan wants to build buying low and selling high
They are running a model similar to Dortmund and Brighton. The ugly truth is, they simply do not have the cash to spend like PSG, Madrid, or City.
My guess is that Milan is willing to sell Leao for hundreds of millions but KAS couldn't come to an agreement with Leao and no one in the CL is willing to spend 9 digits on Rafa.
He has a 150 mil release clause (may be 175) someone activates it sure he can go. Also for those asking about Fonseca
