Certainly if you want to win something in the next year or two and then have your team end up in complete disarray and on the edge of mutiny.
This Dortmund attack is very exciting to watch. The speed, movement, quickness, anticipation....they are all a step or two above Milan at the moment. Dortmund should have 2 goals against Madrid in the first 25 minutes.
🚨 CBS Sports and @Paramountplus announce a new docuseries on @USMNT captain Christian Pulisic 🇺🇸Filming for "Pulisic" begins this summer with cameras following @pulisic throughout the 2024 Copa América 🎥 pic.twitter.com/wplaIVCiBG— CBS Sports Golazo ⚽️ (@CBSSportsGolazo) June 1, 2024 Do I root for Christian? Yes. Will I watch this docu-series? Hell yes. do I think his interviews are still cringe as hell and he has been PR trained to give the blandest answers possible. Yes. I wish this guy would show some, hell, any, personality or interesting side of himself. Oh well. Still a helluva a player. And still Seems to be a decent bloke.
Gonna be a puff piece. Need a more professional, unbiased party with real access to make something interesting... Hard Knocks, Sunderland Til I Die, even the Spurs documentary are IMO good examples, stuff like this and Being Liverpool probably end up as the softball/weaker examples. But I will watch, of course!
If the doc covers his charitable work in FL, great. If it focuses on soccer stuff at Milan, great. But depending on what sort of doc they want to make, he may have good reason to be guarded.
I don't think he is trained to answer the way he does. I think he is legitimately uncomfortable with reporters and it leads to an unwillingness to show any personality with them.
Unfortunately that is what 99% of the series and biographies have become. Athletes agree to give inside access, but only if they have editorial rights. Gone are the days of brilliant documentaries and books that show the full picture with the good AND the bad, although I’m sure there are still a couple that may be out there.
I think there is a lot of truth to that. I also think that at age 25, after having done 10,000 of these interviews since age 17 and matured over time, one would relax a bit more and show some personality. But we are who we are, and god knows I don’t have to be the media face of Americans abroad and US Soccer, so I can’t hammer him for it.
I used to think Troy Aikman was a robot until he retired and voila a personality. Just being safe to protect himself and his teams.
If this is all we have to complain about Pulisic, great. I can't believe some of you care about this. All kinds of athletes keep stuff very PR friendly and cliche. It could just as well be smart vs lack of personality.
Pulisic with a rare display of public rizz, with this repost of Alexa Melton’s picture of them at the US Open where she competed. She doesn’t seem to think he is boring. Not a transfer rumor…just yet, but note the tiny heart hands.
This could pretty much be the response to almost any post on here. Hell, it could be in the title of this discussion thread.
No. This site is about soccer, not personalities. That you guys take canned and/ or careful answers from professional athletes as some character flaw is ridiculous.
We need a thread to collect all the advice about what others should care about. Also, what is the objectively best ice cream flavor?
Vanilla is the GOAT In the context of whether a Pulisic documentary will be fun to watch, it’s not really a complaint per se. More like movie criticism.
Reread my post. I did not insult his character. I merely pointed out, as many have, that his interviews are not great, and then went on to point out he seems to be a good guy and is a great player, and that I will watch the series. I think you are being a little sensitive, and you did not seem to have a problem with the post about his dating life. Odd. Also, soccer, at the end of the day, is an entertainment industry. So in my opinion, much of these topics are not off limits on a forum dedicated to him, as it relates to the player and his day to day life as a pro abroad at AC Milan (and the USMNT), and yes, their personalities and media presence for soccer in the US. if you want to start a forum dedicated only to stats/on-field play, have at it, but you’ve been around long enough to know that won’t happen on Bigsoccer
