I do not remember Cappis doing poorly at all, and he also did well when he was moved from central midfield to left back position for a while due to an injury, but for some reason their new coach did not want to make use of him, and it's often so that when a player with an obvious potential and who is supposed to be talented, but somehow do not fit the system or for some other reason do not get much of a chance to play, the top clubs in Norway and Sweden then line up trying to sign them (like it was also the case with Kristoffer Lund), because these kind of players for the most part end up being a success when they move there, and they would have no chance of signing them had they become a success in the Superliga. So this kind of move is most often well worth the try and transfer fee, which is also why so many players from Denmark and the Superliga end up in the Norwegian and Swedish league.
weird that such a versatile player (who had always played well) couldn't be useful for a coach....could be that the motives are innocent but hard to think they might not be flawed in some way....i.e. ego, politics, poor judgement.... yet another exmple of how subjective these things are i.e. playing time and success in the sport. too bad Cappis has to move down the league ladder as a result of it all...i still think he has a bright future
Cappis on the bench for a Cup semifinal today. Their opponent, Kjelsas, is a 2nd division (which is the third tier of the pyramid) team from Oslo, whose "stadium" has 420 seats. I've coached U-10 matches in stadiums with more seats. Presumably will be jammed with standing room only patrons - biggest match for the club in decades, as they've not been in the second tier since 2001. Here ends my trip down the Kjelsas rabbit hole, but I'm kind of rooting against Molde and Cappis today.
Wading through Norwegian Twitter, seems like a 1-0 win, DNP for Cappis, but a Cup Final upcoming. Sorry, Kjelsas.
Cappis getting some Europa League minutes - on in the 75th minute, already beating Hacken badly, 4-1.
Barely enough minutes to really evaluate, but their midfield continued to dominate while he was on (as the right central midfielder in a 3-5-2). Ends 5-1. Don't think he missed a pass and had a great steal that prevented a shot.

According to TM: He had a couple of Europa League sub appearances in October 2023. He had a knee injury in November & December which seemed to carry over to February. Looks like he was eligible for selection starting in March.
Cappis makes the bench for the first time I'm aware in a long time. Playing Nordsjaelland today, with both teams still in a four-way title race.
Cappis has entered a competitive football match for the first time in months. On in the 86th minute with a 2-0 lead over Silkeborg.
He played LWB for nine minutes as they were really in a five-man back to see out the shutout. Didn't have a ton to do, but did well to draw a foul in the attacking half that helped Brondby waste a couple minutes of stoppage time. The win move Brondby into first for now, but Midtjylland are about to kick off in an attempt to retake the lead. Brondby will go into the final match with a chance at the title at the least, and they'll be in the lead if Midtjylland fail to win today.

Cappis gets the start against Llapi from Kosovo in Conference League qualifying. Rotated side because Brondby won the first leg 6-0, but he can use the minutes.
Moves to Viking FK - currently 2nd in Norway. Deal was reportedly $320K Christian Cappis transfers from Brondby to Viking FK (currently 2nd in Norway's Eliteserien) https://t.co/LItpbUBNpz— Brian Sciaretta (@BrianSciaretta) August 13, 2024
Hard to believe Cappis is 25 today. Surprised. $320K is probably a decent chunk of change for Viking. Interesting to see that Viking has two co-head coaches in Bjarte Lunde Aarsheim and Morten Jensen. Offensive and defensive coordinator? I don’t know how that works but they’ve been together since 2021. It must work they’ve finished 3rd, 11th and 45th respectively. Jensen, I saw played four years at NCAA D2 school, Dowling College on Long Island. I think that school closed recently though.
Just looked…. Long Island U- a good soccer program itself - took over as the successor of custodial records for Dowling. The crap you learn on big soccer…. Useless trivia!
Cappis debuts for Viking, coming on in the 64th minute trailing 2-0. Viking have pulled one back. Got kicked in the Achilles by a Rosenborg sub while preparing for a throw-in, which went uncalled and was kind of amazing.
Cappis came on in the 60th minute today for one of the central midfielders, trailing 2-0. Viking picked up two late goals to earn a point. Nice to see him contributing.
