He had a new manager, Jesper Sorensen, that he needed to impresses during the winter (training) break. Sorensen was an assistant at Brondby before taking the Danish U21 job. I don’t believe Cappis and Sorensen crossed paths at Brondby. I think Cappis was an entering as Sorensen was exiting.

The Danish league has not started yet, but with Denmark being vastly more into bikes (and cargo bikes) instead of wasting more and more expensive fuel on cars, and to keep you safe I will be promoting the Danish council for traffic safety advert to promote the use of helmets :

Cappis seems to have lost his starting spot in the team. anyone know why?

doesnt seem they are doing well with or without him - now in the bottom half of the table

He seemed to be quite confident during the winter break, but it could be due to the fact that Brøndby axed their head coach Niels Frederiksen (former Denmark U21 NT coach) and replaced him with (likewise former Denmark U-21 NT coach) Jesper Sørensen in January 2023 and he perhaps just want to try something new (but obviously with no success so far).

Just a fun fact. The name of his son Hjalmar (who offer him a helmet) is old Norse, meaning 'helmet-wearing warrior' :D

thanks yeah makes sense now....so much of any player's success always depends on the favor of the coach...and that can change at any moment

If you look at the table :

3F Superliga - Stillinger, Resultater, Nyheder og Kampprogram | bold.dk

The Danish Superliga is probably the most brutally intense league in Europe, with 2 rounds left before it's cut in half with a top-6 fighting to become champions, while the bottom 6 will be fighting to escape the 2 relegation spots, but also for the possibility of an Europa League play-off spot, so in theory it's still possible for Brøndby or 9th placed OB Odense to end up in top-6 with 2 rounds left to go before the final stage.

    Danish 3F Superliga, round 21 :

    Brøndby vs. Silkeborg, 2-1
    1-0 Nicolai Vallys (31')
    1-1 Oliver Sonne (66')
    2 -1 Ohi Anthony Omoijuanfo (79')
    Attendance : 19,232

Christian Cappis has not been playing much of lately, with their new coach making changes by fielding some of the "older" Brøndby players, in hope of reaching top-6 and escape the relegation battle by adding some knife-edge "battle" experience. With this win, and only one round left to go before the league is split in half, Brøndby are now in 5th place and probably "only" need a draw away vs. Nordsjælland to qualify for top-6, which then also will make the coach more at ease, having reached their preliminary goal, which then again also will make it more easy for the more inexperienced Brøndby players to be able to shine, also considering that the present Brøndby coach is the former Danish U-21 NT coach, so he will prefer the younger over the older players when possible and when it do not result in them being under an unreasonable pressure.

    Highlights.

Just some info. The Future Cup has replaced the Superliga Reserveliga (Reserve League = Superliga 2nd team League) starting this season. In reality it, as it's name also partly reveal, focus on the very best of the best U-21's or younger from the top clubs, though with the option of fielding up to 5 exceptionally talented players older than 21.

    Danish 3F Superliga, round 22 :

    FC Nordsjælland vs. Brøndby, 2-1
    0-1 Hakon Evjen (39')
    1-1 Ernest Nuamah (52')
    2-2 Ernest Nuamah (90+1')
    Attendance : 9,551

Christian Cappis was on the bench when Brøndby lost their last game away in injury-time to the highly youthful league leaders FCN in the preliminary stage of the Superliga, but still managed to qualify for the top-6 in favor of last seasons Silver medalists FC Midtjylland, due to results that were equally intense and decided in the last minutes of injury-time.

    Highlights.
