I loved how he turned in traffic and he's very direct. He wanted to turn and go forward every time and when necessary he was willing and able to track back. Nice. There's room in our midfield for a box to box guy like he seems to be.
I always liked Cappis' game. I hope he cements himself as a semi-starter and finally gets a real chance with our MNT.
That turn and pass at 1:34 should get him an immediate call up, no other questions asked. Looked pretty good. Quick touches and seemed a decent passing vision. Seems he's been in a tough situation the last year or two with the whole visa thing his team screwed up, so should be an important year for him if he wants to be a NT caliber guy.
His game hasn't changed in the last 9 months, yet, when he was called for his only invite, he didn't even make the game-time roster. So in GB's eyes, his game is not good enough for what he is looking for. SMH.
That play is all it takes for a player to qualify for a callup?? There must be 50 uncapped Americans who can do that. Maybe 100. Maybe 200.
Did he mean the next play? More like 1:44? Turn up field + diagonal ball. Still of course hyperbole but the kid has some interesting tools. Will be fun to see how he develops with more regular game time at Bronsby.
Maybe you're right. That's a better example that fewer players in our pool can do. Still, there are probably at least a dozen players (not just CMs) who haven't gotten callups that can do that. He's been called up to two camps (3 games) this year but hasn't made it onto the field yet. Berhalter is clearly looking at him. I'm not trying to downplay Cappis' potential here. He's in a good situation at a quality club and, yeah, has some interesting tools from what I can see. He's just now starting his 2nd professional season (and first time in a first division), so we'll have to monitor his results.
problem is 3G hasn't made it easy to trust his player evaluation skills. Yeuill is clearly not it, not saying Cappis is, but he at least deserves more of a chance than he has received. Serves no purpose to keep trotting players like Yeuill out when we have other options.
A guy who has played all of one season in the Danish 2nd division doesn't "deserve" more of a chance than what he's received--which is two callups with 3 possibilities of playing time. Yes, he's not Jackson Yueill, but "Danish 2nd division" doesn't seems like a better evaluation tool than whatever it is that Berhalter uses. He's right on track for where you'd expect a player with his age and level of experience to be.
I mean…., in defense of Cappis he has played more games in the Superliga - around 40 - than he did in the 2nd division. He showcased well in 1.5 years on an abysmal Horbro that survived once before being relegated in the 2019/20 season. I just wanted to point that out. But you’re argument still stands and I agree with you that Cappis is definitely on the right track.
He held his own in a very weak team. So far playing for the number one team he seems to be thriving. Let's see how he does in the next 6 months.

unless theres an agenda to somehow squeeze MLSers into the final WC roster,.....then it makes a lot of sense.

Nice way to start with your new club. Hope he can carve out consistent bench minutes and the occasional start then see if he can press for starting role.
I'm not surprised. When he played with the U20 he did the same thing against France in the last friendly prior to the U20 WC. He is a lot better player than most folks give him credit.
