Empire of the Sun is one of my favorite films (dammit Speilberg, why did you make a film I enjoy?) but what was he like 10? I think Malkovich did a great job in that movie, too.

Variety issued a correction today regarding their BATMAN casting article from yesterday. The trade had reported that Liam Neeson would be playing R'as al Ghul, the main villain in the new BATMAN film. However, Neeson isn't playing a bad guy at all; instead, the Irish actor has been cast as businessman Henri Ducard, a friend and mentor to billionaire Bruce Wayne.

As was first mentioned by Batman on Film last week, The Hollywood Reporter is now stating that Ken Watanabe been cast in Christopher Nolan's BATMAN movie.

Watanabe will reportedly be playing the part of the criminal mastermind R'as al Ghul arch-nemesis to the Dark Knight.

The Japanese actor is up for a Best Supporting Actor this coming weekend for his performance in THE LAST SAMURAI.

Probably inspired by the "Batmobile" from Frank Miller's THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS, which offered a much more credible vehicle than any ultimately inspired by 1960s camp.
