I view these matches through the lens of personal/individual development*, so today’s was beneficial. A fellow CB - or maybe a CM like Adams - receives a red card, and you have to shift your position, reorganize the defense, and soldier on short-handed. Today’s failure is a temporary disappointment that might pave the way to tomorrow’s success. ************ * Richards’ development, not mine.
Richards starts! (again in the center, with Lacroix out?). Palace (14th) visiting Tottenham (16th).
"The Frenchman is already set to miss the next three Premier League games for Crystal Palace after his red card." They didn't appeal to avoid a 4th game being added if it was deemed a frivolous appeal. It's not good for Palace, but I think it's somewhat useful for Chris to get more work in the center.
Crazy sequence to end the half - Palace have a goal ruled off for a very marginal offside, are denied a pretty convincing penalty appeal, Spuds score, Palace win a DOGSO, Spurs down to 10, Palace converts, and then score two more in injury time to close out the half. At halftime it's Palace 3 - Spuds 1 and down to 10 men. Richards pretty quiet. He was moving pretty gingerly at the end of the half to my eye. Let's see if he comes out for the second half.
Nah, both Leeds and Forest are right there too...I kinda doubt Spurs get relegated, but it is getting dicey.
I will be sad to see Glasner go. He's a good coach. If CP can replace the players they lost and upgrade a few, they will have a good squad. Of course, everything sounds good in BS world, but they seem to have a good core. Our guy is part of that. His line splitter at 50' was a beauty. Playing in the center and holding his own against a lowly but either way Prem team fighting for it's life, has been good so far. Gotta say, Kamarda has to go.
The 4 fighting to remain above 18th (and relegation) are all within 3 points of one another. The bottom three of that group (Nottingham Forest, Tottenham and West Ham) are one point from eachother. Tottenham does have a significant advantage in goal difference, though. But, with 9 games left and only one point out of relegation, nothing is clear at all for them.
Tudor is a really shit manager. I haven't looked into his previous work, but he was really shit with Juve, and now looks equally shit with a worse Spurs team.
He has one trophy, the Croatian Cup with Hadjuk Split in 2013. The fun part of that is that Tudor didn't get them there - he took over 10 days before the first leg of the final. That was his first job, which he held for almost 2 years. In the 10 jobs he has held since then, he has not yet reached 12 months. Only one of those saw him climb the ladder to a new job - he either resigned or was fired from the other 9.
Networking isn't about your "resume" or "provable added value to the company in question", it's more about who you know...
Did really well at Hellas Verona once he took over for Di Frencesco. They scored their most goals and collected their most points since a young-ish manager named Ivan Juric. He led them to a 9th placed finish and walked at the end of the year. Was hired to take over at Marseille the year following Sampaoli where he finished in 3rd (same as Sampaoli the year before). Mutual agreement with the club to not continue together. Took over for Sarri and did a decent job and ended up mutually separating. Juve came calling probably because he was ok with being a caretaker post-Motta and was a cheap option with a strong history with the club. No idea why he accepted the train wreck that is Spurs (at the moment), that was a lose-lose in my opinion. Maybe he thought if he kept them up he would get future chances in the Prem? Only reason I could think why Spurs called him was because he didn't have much interest in staying longer than the relegation fight and has Champions League managerial experience. He took over late in the year at both Lazio and Juve with enough success that could be translated to keep Spurs in the Prem? I was a fan of his from his time at Verona and Marseille. I liked that he played direct, attacking football.
Richards starts! at RCB. Palace hosting AEK Larnaca in the home leg of the European Conference League playoffs.
true across all sectors of the labor market some of the most brainless peopel i went to high school with have the best jobs now
He certainly has. He could approach elite CB status if he was able to make use of his aerial dominance in the box. Dude wins so many defensive aerial duels but hardly ever gets his head on the ball on corners.
