Quill got called into camp as well. Something I didn't expect but I guess I'm not that surprised.

I just posted on the USA thread btu thought I would throw it out here too. Any thoughts on why Nick did not get called up this time around? I would rate him on par at least with Bocanegra and Califf and clearly better than McCarty and Dunseth.

I think bruce has something against him.

He is most definitley on par with Bocanegra.

    Quill and Klein get Callups

Klein has always been one of my favorites. I haven't seen too much of Quill. Is he worthy?

I would put Arena's choices into two classes.

    (1) Players that have been capped a few times and that Arena is seriously considering. This is why the Klein choice is so important. Notice that Ralston was not picked.

    (2) Guys that Arena wants to take a look at. I wouldn't read too much into this group.

His temper is too risky at the international level, that's my theory at least.

Klein back with the nats happened sooner than I thought. I knew it would happen, just not expecting this quick.

My theory is that he's too small, and has had trouble defending pacey forwards one-on-one.

I mean for a central defender. I understand we aren't Germany, where every player, except for one (played by Thomas Haessler or Bernd Schneider) has to be at least 6'2", but I'm guessing he wants more size from the central defense.

Is Bocanegra really that much bigger?

Demarcus and Cobi are offensive players, and while Richie is a defensive player, he is not a serious candidate for any future US National team. Our small and/or slow defenders have exposed the US team more than once. It's okay for playing the Central Americans but not the European teams, especially Germany!
