Good job Choi Tae-uk! And for a while from the headline I was wondering if I had missed a Korea A match and Choi Yong-soo finally did something right lol I guess some things were not meant to be lol

didn't the paraguayan olympic team play Chile in south america the day before the game against Korea? If so then I'm not sure on the strength of the side that played Korea.

I could be mistaken but that's what I heard.

Found this..."Down South America way, competition is in full swing on Chilean soil. The first round has already whittled things down to four names, Chile, Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay. These four countries will come face to face from 21 to 25 January in a mini-tournament to determine the two lucky contestants who will go in search of Olympic glory...."

Looks like it was Paraguay C playing with 10 men.

I heard Korea flogged Japan yesterday 3-0.

My girlfriend was naturally rather happy about that.

I wonder if she was happier to see Korea win, or to see Japan lose! :)

I hope to make England vs. Japan in Manchester on June 1st with the missus... undoubtedly she'll be cheering for the side "that's not Japan". ;)

    U.S.
the teams that participate vary a lot.

The Swiss sent their U21 team.

The Moroccans, I'm not sure but seeing that they have a player that's 32-years old, I don't think it's their youth squad.

The Japanese have sent their university team.

The Paraguayans have both over-23s and U-23s. They included 5 players from their U-20 squad which they used at the World Youth Championship.

Was it more or less the same squad from the Daegu Universiade this past summer?

On first look it seems smart that Japan sends out such young squads but one must wonder if that really is such a smart thing.
What about the ACTUAL U23s? I mean, what experience would they be getting? Merely league stuff won't do I think, and they should be exposed to international football at their level.
Also the lack of trophies or youth level tournament glories can be a damper on their morale. The mentality of going at it to win is very important, but that can hardly be implimented when you know that clearly you are a University side while others have sent pretty decent teams.
Hmmmm what do u guys think?

Does this mean that we are the only ones that sent the proper Olympic team and STILL did not win? (and losing twice to the same team (the team that did not send their Olympic team)?

yup indeed that's what it means. I don't know what kind of team Morocco fielded.
If Park Ji-sung and Lee Chun-soo could join the team, it would be a huge boost... but that is uncertain at this point
