Anything's possible in this league. Chicago did it in their first season too.

Consider your words marked and ready for re-posting next fall when the Goats either fail to make the playoffs or go out in the first round.

Let's not forget that this would require the Crew to actually, you know, MAKE it to the final.

I really hope that Chivas helps to strengthen the Western conference next season. With a new coach and some fresh new players I think we can challenge Chivas for the top spot in the west next season.

I think as far as the playoffs go, it'll look like this:

    1. CD Chivas
    2. Colorado Rapids
    3. FC Dallas
    4. LA Galaxy

Real Salt Lake and San Jose fail to qualify.

If Chivas limits themselves to Latinos in the expansion draft, they are screwing themselves over. Sure, there's Vaca, de la Torre, Brenes, and Quintanilla, but those are the only ones that are really good. As an RSL fan, I hope that Chivas does limit themselves to Latinos, because that means the rest of the best will be left for us. I would hate to see a team do that to themselves though. I mean, who's gonna be your keeper? Surely these names are better than anything you can dig up, right?

If they could see beyond the Spanish language "barrier" and accept Portuguese there is a VERY good Brazilian keeper availible in the mid-West. He attended the Sangre Nueva tryouts, and they spoke with him and voiced interest. Then, when they realized he was from Brazil......end of conversation.
Atleast his last name is Garcia?! I know someone from the org is monitoring these posts, how can someone get a reasonable shot without the discrimination?

You guys have no shot with all hispanic players. Every MLS team will prepare like it's U.S. v MEX and come out looking to destroy you. I doubt you guys even make the playoffs the first season.

Right the team with no players is going to win it all. Okay. Try back at least after friday.

That is an unfair statement....it makes the assumption that they may make it ANY season. End the discrimination.

So does that mean they really are going to have a ethnic policy? That's ridiculous, and it will bite them hard. I mean, just look at their options in the expansion draft. I think Joselito Vaca is the best player in the pool, but after that they're screwed.

    Antonio de la Torre
    Eliseo Quintanilla
    Francisco Gomez
    Orlando Perez
    Manny Lagos
    Oscar Pareja
    Arturo Torres
    Sergio Galvan Rey
    Joselito Vaca
    Carlos Llamosa
    Marcelo Saragosa
    Pablo Brenes

That is an ugly roster. Brenes is great, Quintanilla & de la Torre are good. Galvan Rey forgot how to play soccer, maybe he'll remember. Basically, Chivas could get a lot better players if they weren't biased. But why should they be with that coach? What's the deal over there?

Ha Ha Ha, you made me laugh for the last half hour, Chivas USA is going to strenghten the already powerful Western Conference???
Kansas, LA, and SJ made it what it is, maybe you should check how many teams have won MLS cup in each conference. LA, SJ, KC, for the west only Chicago and DC for the east. Of course DC has four titles.

You have Colorado over the Galaxy? We may have a sorry coach, but the team is still better than most, and with the money LA has, they will be a top contender.

FC Dallas will make it to the playoffs, they will have the best motivation and might even be in the mix for the top spot, Frisco stadium, Ronnie O'Brien, and a better Eddie Johnson make them a team to watch.

SJ may lose Donovan, but they have Brian Ching, Dwayne DeRosario, Pat Onstad, and one of the best defenses in the league.

The Rapids is the team that is in danger, I think RSL and Chivas will be the two teams battling for the last spot, I think their series will decide who goes to the postseason. But Rongen as head coach of Chivas, might eventually prove to be a factor as well.

Oh hell no. With the talent that teams left exposed for the expansion draft, RSL is definitely going to beat out at least 2 or 3 teams. I think Chivas should be good if they were smart about picking players but they probably won't be because of their apparent bias. RSL is supposedly close to signing Clint Mathis, according to Rob Stone and Marcelo Balboa during the Jamaica USA game tonight. Mathis, MLS MVP 2005, RSL repeats the Chicago Fire's precedent of winning the Cup in their first season. Jason Kreis Comeback Player of the Year.

That backbone has reportedly begun to crack, Ramirez and I believe Palencia, has stated that he is no longer sure about moving to the US, and playing in the MLS.

And to tabramos-10, you have a great point, they are definitley a top three team in the west, but the factor will be Ellinger's coaching abilities, if he ain't ready to take the league, like the Fire was in 98', they won't go far.

That all mexican or hispanic concept only works for the mexican league, Look at the best teams ib the world(europe) do they have only brazilians, English, french italian, etc..players. The whole chivas mentality is backwards and you only shoot yourself in the foot. And no chivas wont win the cup next year.

Keep in mind that the road to the cup goes through DC..

Gotta knock out the heavyweight champ before you can call yourself champ.

Looking forward to 'welcoming' you to the league on opening day..

But seriously its way to early to consider Chivas becoming champions, we gotta see how their first games goes, actually see their roster first, and as to regarding that one dc fan saying they have to go thru DC the "heayweight champs" i think the dc team that won this years championship team has been the weakest, everyone else just sucked so bad and i just think DC got lucky but thats another story.
