Chivas USA u23s return this Saturday to action against Pomona United. It's FREE & they will continue to play in the Coast Soccer League until March 2014. http://www.coastsoccer.org/teams/62441644/60639489-62441731/TEAM.html This is Chivas USA's answer to continue developing players for the 1st team.
March, dude, thank you for all your tireless work keeping us in the loop regarding the Academy, hopefully someday the club it self will be as thorough (if they were smart they'd just hire you!)
Van der Most looking to improve the Youth Development program http://www.cdchivasusa.com/news/2013/10/van-der-most-looking-improve-youth-development-program I agree with Van Der Most. Look at the RSL Academy right now. They play in Arizona http://www.grandesportsacademy.com/ & attract good players. I've heard of Chivas USA Academy creating a residency program but i doubt it would happen anytime soon. Ford Park is is better than nothing.
http://www.coastsoccer.org/teams/62441644/60639489-62441731/TEAM.html U18 player Jonathan Caparelli has joined the U23s. Recently played with the reserves.
The U18s are really bad this season. Thanks to Mike Munoz most of the USSDA players left with him to the galaxy. U16s aren't that bad. Both teams are in rebuilding mode & are completely made up of new players.
Good article on the U23s. http://www.cdchivasusa.com/news/2013/10/u23-team-perfect-example-success-development-academy Very physical game tonight vs LA Misioneros FC. With the season coming to an end for the 1st team, I would strongly suggest Chivas USA fans to come out for FREE and support the U23s.
http://www.cdchivasusa.com/news/2013/10/chivas-usa-reserves-arrive-san-jose Last game for the Reserve team in San Jose this morning.
UC-Riverside - Midfielder -Eric Gonzalez who was a former u-18 Chivas USA Academy member and who played and started for the u-23 Chivas USA State Champs .Eric Gonzalez is currently ranked #7 best player in the Big West Conference and is ranked#92 best player in the nation in college. He is a Sophomore. http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/college-soccer/college-player-profile/eric-gonzalez/cpid-1004159 Also UC-Riverside-Forward -Romario Lomeli who was a member of u-18 Chivas USA Academy ,has scored 3 goals and has 1 assist as a Freshmen so far. You can start right away at UC Riverside if you are good and make a name for yourself, instead of going to Top Soccer schools and sit on the bench for 2 years or be a redshirt Freshman. The key is to continue playing regularly and hope to one day make the Chivas USA first team one day.
Watched the U23s this past Saturday. Witnessed an ass-whoping from Chivas USA to Tustin Celtic. http://www.cdchivasusa.com/news/2013/12/recap-u14s-remain-unbeaten Good game by the U23s during the 1st & 2nd half. Big CB #64 was very impressive & had a goal as well. The team showed very good soccer technique.
Hopefully someday, all the on-field success the youth teams have will lead to on-field success for the senior team.
Chivas USA are having youth tryouts this week. More pics https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10152429558410278.1073741892.115634945277&type=1 Apparently Portland DF Mikael Silvestre was at the tryouts.
USSDA League Chivas USA U18 tied 1 - 1 Chivas USA U16 won 3 - 1 Coastal Soccer League Chivas USA U23 won 5 - 2 friendly
It's been reported that the assholes across the hall have signed former Chivas USA Academy player Bradford Jamieson to a HG player contract. Jamieson & others followed Munoz. Another example of the BS MLS is. I don't know how Jamieson meets the requirements as HG player. Switch in July to the galaxy less then a full year. http://www.lagconfidential.com/2013...xy-academy-update-chivas-defections-u-23-team
I agree. Unfortunately this will continue to happen. Chivas USA should have said something when the entire U16 squad switched to the galaxy with Munoz last year. They should protect their players better.
Another Chivas USA Academy player join Xolos http://ussda.demosphere.com/teams/60852305/47187215-60852392/62965377.html This is the second player who has left to join Xolos Academy. Esteban Rodriguez was the 1st http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/club...an-rodriguez-signs-with-club-tijuana_aid23733
