After sort of being written off for not being in camp by the coach. Hudson likes Chino's play enough to start him in defense. He is definitly one of the most popular players on the team, a la Mario Gori. I look forward to yelling for Chino this weekend.

IMHO the only reason Chino got the nod was because of injuries. If we were injury/suspension free, I don't think Chino would've been in there.

That's probably true, but to me it seems beside the point. With such severe salary cap, MLS clubs have to do with a low-paid bench and, as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. It does no good to criticize a guy like Chino, in my book, without considering who you would be able to get to replace him for the same money.

I doubt if we could do better. Chino may not have all that much talent, or size, or speed but gives everything he has all of the time. We've had a few over the years who didn't do that.

Yes, it would be absolutely horrid to play well enough that you get taken on a professional team. Not only that but you actually get to play - sometimes even start games. That would be bad! Who in their wildest dreams would want to play that well!

Although, in the long-term Chino is not going to remain in the MLS. His transition to Senior International will likely mean an end to his career. Were he American or were he to get a green card, he could remain one of those journeyman players that accepts whatever roll he is given and does his best. He'll never be a star but he is a consistent professional who leaves it on the field.

Chino's popularity with some stems from his unique status as a former Barra Brava member. He is one of the fans made good.

I just don't understand why he keeps going back to Peru every year and getting stuck there. If I was Hudson I would have told him to take his time getting back because they aren't keeping him.
Skill wise he is only playing because of injuries. If Milton was good to go Chino wouldn't see any playing time.

Well to renew your immigration stuff, you now need to go back to where you got it.

I'd rather complain about Chino's playing time than Lazy Alavanja's playing time.

No...you renew it if you leave the country. You can leave the contry but must ask DHS (formerly INS) permission to exit the country under special circumstances such as death in the family, not three month shaggin' drinkin' and getting fat spree.

I don't know if he could on his salary! Do you realize how expensive liquor and women are in DC?

    :D ;)

Perhaps he'd have to drive a few hours SOUTH. They may not be as nice (or clean) but they're cheaper! ;)

Chico, not it isn't but...you and I can freely cross the border due to our US citizenship, while Chino's immigration status isn't permanent.
This is the third time it's happened, you think he'd learned the second time around, but no...he had to go to Peru. You miss your mother, send effing flowers.
