The table is very tight at the top after 18 rounds.

    Dalian 9-4-4 31 points
    Yunnan 9-4-4 31
    Shenzhen 8-6-2 30 - 1 match in hand
    Beijing 8-6-3 30
Shandong 9-0-8 27 (the feast or famine team in Jia A)
    Shanghai Zhongyuan 7-4-6 25
    Liaoning 7-3-7 24
    Qingdao 5-8-4 23
    Chongqing 5-8-4 23
    Tianjin 5-6-6 21
    Shenyang 5-6-6 21
    Sichuan 4-5-8 17
Shanghai Shenhua 4-3-9 15 - 1 match in hand(Who can believe this one!)
    Chinese Army 1-9-6 12 - 1 match in hand
    Shanxi 1-6-10 9

Four teams within 1 point of one another at the top and another 5 within 9 points.

Well, Shenhua is playing many young players, a good move since there's no relegation. Granted I still expect them to do better.

Yunnan is the surprise team, I checked their roster and I haven't heard any of them except Ou Chuliang.

I still think Dalian will win it in the end.

    Hey Ludahai

do you get hai on ludes?

i heard you're a white guy that speaks Chinese fluently. I think that's cool. I once saw a white guy speaking Korean without an accent and it blew my mind. It was like watching a bear give a lapdance.

anyhow can you translate the following for me?

"ki pao hap chai wa ta"
"zhu bu dai ha bu ga"

Can you give the proper romanization? Doesn't sound like Mandarin to me....

I agree. It didn't look like Hanyu Pinyin, which is the Romanization system I am familiar with. I am beginning to get used to Tongyong Pinyin, but that didn't look like it either.

Easier still would be Chinese characters.

Agreed. I am surprised that they are this low even playing the younger guys. Even if there were relegation, with Shanxi and Bayi playing so poorly, I don't think Shenhua would be relegated.

I can't believe Yunnan is at the top of the table with Dalian. I expect that Dalian is still the favorite, though I am still hoping that Shandong can repeat its 1999 success.

For next year, how many teams will there be? All 15 Jia teams will remain. How many from Jia B will be promoted? And what about that Hong Kong United side I keep hearing about forming? Will they start in Jia or Yi division?

I think 16. Since there is no relegation and promotion this season, no teams from Jia B will get promoted. Maybe the Hong Kong U will join as the 16th.

I just hope shenhua's 7-1 win over ba yi wasn't a fluke and we'll get some good results from now on. What a crappy season it has been for shenhua.

It is a system used in Taiwan and is in the process of replacing the old Wade Giles System

    Example:

    Wade-Giles - Chungkuo
    Hanyu Pinyin - Zhongguo
    Tongyong Pinyin - Jungguo

All represent the Chinese characters for China in Mandarin. Obviously the later to are superior to Wade-Giles.

A decent U-16 team in Georgia could beat BaYi these days. I wouldn't take too much stock in that result.
