Does Leverkusen still own Junior's rights? Or did Zagreb buy him?

It's a loan, so yes: Leverkusen still own Junior.

According to Transfermarkt, Fernandes is in Dinamo until 30. June 2014 without transfer fee. After that Dinamo will maybe buy him or he will return in Leverkusen.

Article/interview with Junior Fernandes (published on 18. January 2014)

    http://www.nogometni-magazin.com/ne...i?id=EFAppVpuypezOgCXvi&tmpl=coranto_hrv_news

    Google Translate - Croatian - English - Slightly adapted.

Fernandes: Popular Croatian singer for me is Ante Rukavina (he played with him, locker room concerts)...:D

If Dinamo Repurchases him from Bayer Leverkusen, Junior Fernandes will become the most expensive in the history of the club gain in Maksimir. This does not create pressures on him...

Frankly , I do not know much of Croatian language. The only thing I know is ' hello ' , ' good day ' and some swearing. I have not taught your language because all languages are mixed to me at the moment, laughed Dinamo's Chilean, 25 -year-old Junior Fernandes.

Zoran Mamic (coach, sports director) said before trip in Medjugorje (West Herzegovina) that they would be very pleased in Maksimir with the plan to buy out his contract from Bayer Leverkusen. He mentions the amount of 2.5 million euros. If Dinamo redeems this price, Fernandes will be the most expensive in the history of "blue" reinforcement.

    - If I didn't had serious intentions here, I would not have come. Of course I'm happy with everything, and I'm glad that the club has high opinion about me. I do not feel particular pressure because I was the most expensive player in history - says Junior, who hopes to achieve World Cup participation:

    - I think I'll go in Brazil. About the World Cup I'd already spoken with Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona. We're friends and often we hear each other with SMS. While I played in Leverkusen, several times he invited me to Barcelona. I was at the Nou Camp on some matches during the Champions League. Alexis knows that Dinamo becomes each year the champion and fights for entrance into the Champions League - said Fernandes .

Off the court it is impossible to see him without hats, his favorite fashion detail. He carries the hats of baseball team, the New York Yankees, Toronto ...

    - I do not even know how many of them I have them at home. I don't know anything about baseball, but I like to wear their hats - laughs Fernandes.

He is a lover of rap music, but he is not impressed with Edo Maajka (Bosnian Muslim controversial rapper who achieved his "career" in Croatia and later finally left because he couldn't get Croatian citizenship, even though he made critical tones directed against Croatian Parliament, that's why his citizenship application was refused. Not grateful at all, because Croatia accepted him as war refugee from Bosnia. He made his entire achievement in Croatia, he opened his own bar, but this wasn't enough, he needed to provoke) or TBF (Croatian hip hop group which is not so popular in my opinion. After 2011 they don't have any albums. Creative crisis). Strange that journalist mentioned to Fernandes these two. Fernandes has his favorites..

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edo_Maajka

    - My favorite singer is Wiz Khalifa, and the Croatian singer I like is Rukavina. He gladly listens his humming in the locker room - laughed Chilean footballer with Brazilian roots.

Fans of Dinamo Bad Blue Boys with their unhappiness against Dinamo's management and long term decisions. Small group of fans arrives on Dinamo's matches. Champions League and Europa League are also not popular among fans. They say that they will come again, if management leaves. Management tries to provide ticket discounts (gratis tickets, nice words about the fans, but flattering is not well accepted).

FIFA Trophy will arrive in Croatia (22. 2.) and it will be presented in the Museum of Contemporary Art.:) Nice introduction before the World Cup opening match between Brazil and Croatia.

    I don't know.:D Leverkusen has six attackers.

    http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/bayer-04-leverkusen/startseite/verein_15.html

It's hard to say will Dinamo buy Fernandes, because Dinamo buys cheaper foreign players and places them with players from Dinamo Academy.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GNK_Dinamo_Zagreb_Academy

Success of a foreign player in Dinamo is just a matter of major luck. Fernandes shows his quality side during the games often. If Dinamo intends to enter in Champions League next season, they should buy him. With Eduardo da Silva, Fernandes is the only perspective foreign attacker in the last ten years. Others were bad and often expensive purchases. After that they show their discipline problems (Sammir, Adrian Calello).

    Dinamo has seven attackers.

    http://www.transfermarkt.com/en/gnk-dinamo-zagreb/startseite/verein_419.html

Ante Rukavina, Fatos Beqiraj don't have bright future in football at all. Rukavina was very talented in younger period. But later, he became very average. Beqiraj is not a team player, he carries his personal ideas, dribblings. Most perspective current attackers are: Duje Cop, El Arbi Soudani and Junior Fernandes.

Fran Brodic is unknown player so far. Robert Muric is a talented young player. Several clubs showed interest for him. If Muric makes something progressive in these four upcoming months, maybe they will give up and let Fernandes go in Leverkusen.

They already pay 2.5 millions for Beqiraj (2 millions) and Rukavina (500 000), so they could remove these two and buy Fernandes for 2.5 millions.:D Only who would buy these two.

Market value of Fernandes became higher. His value was 800 000 euros when he came in Leverkusen from U. de Chile. Dinamo will search cheap foreign players anyway, so why wouldn't they buy safe and already checked solution and remove Rukavina and Beqiraj.

If Fernandes wants to end in Chilean squad, his perspective is better if he plays in Leverkusen, so this could be his desire. He also doesn't know Croatian language, so probably he doesn't mean to stay. Some other foreign players learned Croatian very well and they stayed before.

As usual, great answers, thanks Gilbertsson.

I'm glad to know he is doing well and that fans like him, I'm not sure if Leverkusen has a place for him yet. They are doing fine without him (2nd in Bundesliga) and Junior still has a lot to improve. Hopefully he will play international cups with Dinamo and keep growing as a player, maybe Zagreb can extend the loan?

I don't think he is ready for Brazil 2014, but if he keeps improving maybe he will make an appearance for Russia 2018.

So far he ended his knee recovery. Spring season won't offer too many surprises. Dinamo is closer to their title every week. They have 49 points with one match less.

    http://www.fifa.com/world-match-cen...tia-prva-liga-2000000012/standings/index.html

Hajduk Split will end second and Lokomotiva Zagreb will maybe be out of the competition, so Rijeka could end third. Dinamo will make experiments with the team, they usually bring younger players in this period. Croatian Cup is also in the game, so Junior Fernandes will have plenty of space.

Among these 200 fans who visit matches, he is well accepted.:) Majority still boycotts the matches because they don't have productive dialogue with the management.

Leverkusen has attacking players with very high market value. It seems that Eren Derdiyok has some injure, same as Robert Kruse (unknown player for me).

Even if Fernandes continues to score every week in Croatian championship, this doesn't mean too much, because opponents of Dinamo are not on some higher level. Leverkusen already had him and they could check him in Bundesliga. He played six matches for Leverkusen. Bundesliga is demanding league, much more than Croatian. He and Ante Rukavina have similar history. They both came from the greater club in Croatian league: Panathinaikos and Leverkusen. Problem is that Rukavina entered in creative stagnation. Fernandes is showing different characteristics.

His desire is to play in Brazil, but I doubt that he could achieve this and compete with: Alexis Sanchez, Eduardo Vargas, Humberto Suazo, Jean Beausejour, Mauricio Pinilla, Mark Gonzalez...

Chile invited Gustavo Canales against Costa Rica and he is 31 years old. Fernandes is younger, but still not enough for Friendly Match invitation. If we include several other players from Chilean league: Esteban Paredes, Gonzalo Barriga, Jose Fuenzalida with players from Brazilian league, chances for Fernandes are really reduced.

I don't know exactly how that loan rule works. Leverkusen could take him and place him somewhere else on loan. Usual custom for bigger clubs:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stipe_Perica

    Matej Delac changed six clubs.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matej_Delač

If no one else appears on the scene in Chile, Fernandes could play in Russia.:D Chile had six FW players in South Africa. It's hard to enter among those six.:whistling:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2010_FIFA_World_Cup_squads#Chile

In recent history, Dinamo has weaker non-Croatian players, even for national league conditions:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:GNK_Dinamo_Zagreb_players

A: Ademi, Agic, Oliveira, Alispahic, Costa, Atta. I don't remember Mustafa Arslanovic.

    B: Beqiraj, Bekic.

C: Calello (he also has problems in Italian clubs), Carrasco (he never had true chance in Dinamo, only three matches).

Mathias Chago was a solid player in the beginning, after he became much weaker (injuries).

Among other players there are many of them with small number of matches for Dinamo. But this list is considered as the list of best players in Dinamo.:D

Dinamo once bought Peter Utaka in his youth age, but he wasn't great as his brother John Utaka.:D At least scouts guessed the correct family.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Utaka

It's hard to find someone good, if you have financial limits. And they never spend too much for one player, but they lost a lot of money on some never achieved players (domestic players also included).

Fernandes and Soudani are well guessed solutions.:)

I think the worst thing that happened to Junior was messing up in this match (I think it was his first official match for the Chilean NT) in an away game against Peru.

He tried a bicycle in a very dangerous position, lost it, and resulted in a Peruvian goal.

    From second 25 onward...

    Fans didn't forgive him that.

Fernandes was very ambitious here.:whistling: Problem was that he wasn't in one-on-one situation here and rejected ball surprised him also. But he should pass to someone instead of this very risky move. Usually nothing happens after similar mistakes on the central part of the field, someone else corrects this, but he wasn't lucky at all. Everything negative and "mala suerte" connected in this situation.

His move is just another move of a young player, who still doesn't have that team spirit, responsibility for your co-players behind. He doesn't understand that he doesn't need to prove anything. Invitation in NT proves his quality. Something similar he makes in Dinamo, he rather shoots from some impossible to score situations. Positive thing that his moves don't bring any damage in the national league. In UEFA competitions they are all mostly bad, especially defenders and goalkeeper, a lot of blackouts, weak coaches, they don't have motivation against weaker teams. But this is a club problem and the problem Croatian mentality in general (underestimating weaker ones and euphoria against better teams). Something similar we could see in Brazil World Cup.

Dinamo had 18 matches in UEFA competitions: Champions League and Europa League. They have only 2 draws and 16 defeats in three seasons. Draws came against Dynamo Kyiv (Champions League) and PSV Eindhoven (Europa League).

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GNK_Dinamo_Zagreb_in_European_football

If they can win points here, I don't understand what's wrong in matches against: Ludogorets, Chornomorets, Austria Wien...Dinamo is better than these ones.

Dinamo won't lose much on creativity, if Alen Halilovic doesn't leave. But in the summer they will sell 2,3 players for sure and everything will be at the beginning of nothing:

    - players won't have preparations together, because new players come in the last moments
    - some players are always in bad shape (Ante Rukavina, Arijan Ademi). They had one major conflict before.:D
    - Jerko Leko was important figure before several seasons in the NT, but he is old now, same as Josip Simunic.
    - NT coach doesn't anyone from Dinamo for friendly match against Switzerland. He probably wants to create theory that no one in Dinamo orders to him about the squad, which is not true, so he is doing this only in friendly matches.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Croatia_national_football_team

He could invite: Duje Cop, Alen Halilovic, Marcelo Brozovic and Josip Pivaric.:whistling:

Goalkeeper Antonijo Jezina got the goal just after five seconds against South Korea. Croatia won, but this was very bad.:D Visible in References of his Wiki biography.:whistling:

Argentine player Luis Ibanez is also on loan in Racing Club de Avellaneda. His status is also unknown. He doesn't play at all, only six matches. Even false comparison doesn't help too much: "Ibáñez is the best Croatian left back since Robert Jarni. To all the others, he's a color television.":D He became very weak.:whistling:

Upcoming match: NK Hrvatski Dragovoljac - GNK Dinamo Zagreb

NK Hrvatski Dragovoljac - GNK Dinamo Zagreb 0-1

Goal scorer: Josip Simunic. They played at stadium of NK Zagreb after all.

    Highlights: http://max.tportal.hr/Hrvatski-dragovoljac--Dinamo-01-23-kolo-201314-sazetak-Video_20974_0__0.aspx

Website title: "36 year old Simunic needed to save Dinamo" say that Dinamo played pretty average. But still, this was enough for three points.

    A lot of missed chances.

    http://gol.dnevnik.hr/clanak/hnl/hr...dri-nastavljaju-pobjednicki-niz---324510.html

53rd minute - Junior Fernandes had a chance. He was on 16 meters and he aimed on lower left part of the goal, but goalkeeper defended his shot.

67th minute - Fernandes assisted to Alen Halilovic, but he passed to Duje Cup, so this action went down.

Team is aware of their weak performance at the moment. Usual "crisis" when they become aware about the title victory.:whistling:

Croatia will play with Italy, Bulgaria, Norway, Malta and Azerbaijan. Nice group in my opinion. First two teams go directly, best third team in general also goes directly, other third placed teams will be in play-offs.:D

Copa America will provide much higher level of quality than EURO's in the future.

65th minute - he passed the ball to Alen Halilovic and Alen scored (assistance).
68th minute - he found Lima, Lima shot, but Vargic defended this shot.
91st minute - he passed the ball to Alen Halilovic, but Alen couldn't accept it because it was too strong.

It's not hard to find these things Posteador. I am balancing mostly with two, three links.

Here you have one example how attackers, central attacking players like to be selfish and and create their own self-will.:DAnd they all do this in majority of their matches. They want to achieve better contracts, transfers, they are aware that foreign scouts are placed over there.

    http://www.rtl.hr/video/rtl-liga/45480/evo-kako-izgleda-sebicnost-i-samovolja-kod-dinama/

In various moments, players rather dribble, shoot, after they lose the ball they don't return back. In one moment Fernandes did this, he made one unsuccessful dribbling and he walked there instead of returning back and trying to get the ball back. Also it's visible where Soudani pretended that he was fouled, he was on his knees, he didn't want to participate at all in the game.

Duje Cop, Alen Halilovic, Junior Fernandes, El Arabi Hillel Soudani - entire attacking part of the team tries to play alone. That's why Dinamo has weak results in Europe.:whistling: But these situations can pass in the national league.

    Some other videos, interviews:

Fatos Beqiraj will continue his career in China. So Junior Fernandes will have much more space and freedom.

    Time Chronology 1st-90th minute: http://sportski.net.hr/nogomet/hnl/dinamo-pobijedio-lokomotivu-21

Junior Fernandes was mentioned in 50th minute, but Marcelo Brozovic missed.
Same thing happened in 61st minute, when Duje Cop missed.
Fernandes was replaced with Pavicic (unknown player for me) in 74th minute.

It seems that Fernandes is in some kind of creative crisis. Two matches in a row without goals and opponents were slightly stronger if we observe their Standings: Rijeka, Lokomotiva. Lokomotiva is B Team of Dinamo, so Dinamo needed to win.:D

Goal scorer for Lokomotiva was Mario Situm, players are mostly on loans from Dinamo:
    http://www.transfermarkt.com/en/nk-lokomotiva-zagreb/startseite/verein_11194.html

It seems that Lokomotiva and Hrvatski Dragovoljac will continue to play in the first league, but according to the inspection, they should be placed in the second league.:D Problems with license (H.D.) and A & B Team can't play in the same league (Lokomotiva).

Junior Fernandes achieved el renacer, but I doubt that Dinamo will invest 5.5 millions $. They usually buy much cheaper foreign players (0-5 - 2 millions of euros) and they wait, maybe luck provides them better status. Usually nothing happens, it's very rare to see that cheaper players achieve something major after Dinamo.

“Juega regularmente y es una de las figuras del equipo, junto con sus compañeros de ataque Soudani y Kop”

Kop is Duje Cop.:D His surname is lik Chicharito - Chop, but it's written like Čop.

"La dirigencia de Dinamo Zagreb no ha pasado por alto el buen nivel de Fernandes.Según cuenta el técnico del primer equipo y gerente deportivo, Zoran Mamic (hermano del presidente Zdravko Mamic), el club tiene la intención de adquirir el pase a Bayer Leverkusen cuando termine el préstamo en julio.El negocio rondaría los cuatro millones de euros, es decir, US$ 5,5 millones."

Brothers Mamic change their opinion pretty often. A lot of promises which were never fulfilled, that's why fans boycott their matches. Often we can read about "strong European Dinamo" in the new season.

"Pero uno nunca sabe. Puede cambiar de idea o un club más grande puede interesarse en él."

"De concretarse la transferencia, Fernandes sería la compra más cara en la historia del Dinamo y de un club croata."

They would rather keep the money for themselves.

"Mamic confía en que el chileno está cómodo en Zagreb y conforme con una continuidad que no tuvo en Alemania."

Confianca de Mamic.:D La liga croata y alemana no tiene la misma calidad.:whistling:

“Esto no fue un retroceso.Pasé de no jugar en un club a jugar.Estoy en el club más grande de este país, con una gran reputación.Si todo marcha bien, me gustaría quedarme aquí.”

Other clubs are mostly much weaker than Dinamo. They are too strong for Croatian league and too weak for the Champions League at the moment. And this moment lasts since 2000.

"Aunque no fue nominado para el partido contra Alemania, Fernandes recibió la visita de Jorge Sampaoli y se siente considerado todavía en la carrera hacia el Mundial."

Nice gesture of Jorge Sampaoli. It would be nice that Junior stays, Alen Halilovic will be in Barcelona in the next season, so Dinamo will have problems with play makers. Junior Fernandes could achieve lack of ambitions in this situation and search some other destination: Leverkusen or another loan in new club. Without adequate play maker, his future won't be nice in Dinamo.

Awkward... Junior joined the rest of the team to show Chile's new puma shirts, but he might not go to the World Cup.

Several reasons why Junior Fernandes was present on this video:

    - he is already attached with Puma in his club and he also presents club jersey. Puma likes to gather their family members.:D

    - Brazil as a World Cup host is the country of his origins. Brazilians Eduardo da Silva and Sammir had similar attention in Croatia, interviews, opinions, even though they are not in the first squad.
    - UEFA and FIFA usually likes to promote equal participation of players with different racial background. Clubs in Europe have policy where foreign players participate in presentations, so that they feel welcomed. Photo above shows Chilean Junior Fernandes, Algerian El Arabi Hillel Soudani, Argentine Pablo Migliore and Croatian player Duje Cop on the right side. This is visible in commercials, promotions of major football events.:) Commercials also gather fans of different backgrounds.

    - Maybe Junior Fernandes will go in Brazil, at least among 23 players. He seems happy and relaxed in this video.:D If his value continues to grow, it's possible to expect him on the major scene. Only he needs to avoid injuries, especially when he plays against weaker Croatian clubs, or in Croatian Cup matches when they meet clubs from lower leagues. They don't protect players too much, ruff starts are often present in 2nd division and county leagues. Every professional player in Croatia is happy if he doesn't have to start from the lowest branches of football.:whistling: It's jungle out there.

Glad he is doing well, you think he is worth the record transfer fee? honestly. He is not that valued here in Chile, mainly due to his mistake in a WCQ match.

Hard to say. 5.5 millions of dollars seems a lot suddenly. His market value was around 2.5 millions of euros.

    http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/junior-fernandes/profil/spieler_89708.html

I don't think that Croatian league clubs could be so relevant, price shouldn't jump so high. In UEFA competitions, several Dinamo Zagreb players can't follow that level of rhythm. Some of them really don't know how to shoot with some major power or precision (Ivan Krstanovic, Ante Rukavina, Fatos Beqiraj...).

Junior Fernandes is good for Croatian league, but in the last two matches against the stronger clubs he didn't scored, he tried few assists, shots. Obviously he can't follow the rhythm of Bundesliga. Leverkusen is not some naive club who would miss their specific talents. So he is on loan with the reason. Sometimes he becomes playful, he tries some impossible moves, so far this is not not harmful in Croatian league. If he doesn't score, someone else will, no big deal. Champions League needs much more, much more expensive players. Dinamo needs 3,4 players which price doesn't go below 10 millions of euros. That's why entire team becomes weak, with few exceptions, where they show that they are motivated, usually against known clubs. They underestimate a lot of clubs from various countries, especially from Eastern Europe. But players over there become even more motivated if they hear underestimating factors and after that usual shock for Dinamo and they lose once again. It's always the same, it's part of their nature, impossible to change. When Real Madrid arrives, they invest every atom of their power. They lost 0-1 in Croatia, other clubs get much more goals from them. Also when they see that they don't have any chances to go further, they lose 1-7 at home against Lyon. A lot of strange stories we could read after the match. How? Why? Was this reality or something else?:whistling:

Knowing clubs habits, they would rather buy 2,3 players where all 3 have the value of 3,4 millions of euros.
Next match is against Slaven Belupo. In the last seasons average club, who has three victories, nine draws and twelve defeats. Bunker team, who tries to collect draws.:D For example they have won against Athletic Bilbao at home 2-1 in Europa League, similar case, motivated against better teams, but they rather end 9th in the national league and they become weak team. Northern club from the city of Koprivnica, without some stronger temperament or atmosphere.:whistling:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NK_Slaven_Belupo

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Koprivnica

If Junior Fernandes scores, this is not some major surprise. Probably Leverkusen tries to build up the price.:p Three millions of euros seems more realistic in this moment. For some dramatic value, he also needs to become regular NT player. That's why it's good that Chile invites him. Maybe Leverkusen and Chilean NT staff have some nice agreement. Chile should invite him, price will rise so that Leverkusen could earn more. In Croatian league this happens often. Lets promote some players, after they leave and no one knows anything about them.:D

Some other players of Dinamo also score often, but they are not in the Croatian national team. Not even close.

    http://www.fifa.com/world-match-cen...a-prva-liga-2000000012/top-scorers/index.html

Leon Benko - top goal scorer will continue to play in China. He has never played in Dinamo. They would notice him, if he is so great like media (payed articles) say, how come he can't play in better league.:D

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leon_Benko

Andrej Kramaric - ex-player of Dinamo, Lokomotiva, he plays now in Rijeka. Dinamo would keep him for sure if he is something special.:D Dinamo even sent him in Dinamo B Lokomotiva team. Another chance and still nothing.:D

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrej_Kramarić

Duje Cop - I think that he can score 50 goals every season and he wouldn't collect any NT match. He played only for U21 Team.:whistling:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duje_Čop

Fact that someone plays in Dinamo doesn't mean too much. It depends a lot about media writings, if someone pays, superlative values arrive very diligently.:D
