I'd like to think that part of the reason for his improved performance is the fact that at least he's now playing regularly at club club level, whereas before he both wasn't playing at West Brom (now at Nottingham) and would still get called up and start for the NT.

I can't understand how Borghi used to call him when he had no rythm. I think he played only 45 minutes between august and december. Now that he is playing regularly at the championship he has improved a lot. I hope he keeps it up.

Aránguiz a pesar de que hoy en día es de los mejores del medio durante su paso por Colo Colo no destacó nada, quizá porque lo ponían a volantear por la derecha, no estaba bien acompañado (descartado), le pesó la camiseta o simplemente subió su nivel recién en la U, vaya uno a saber, lo cierto es que exhibió poco de lo que muestra hoy en día, ya sea en despliegue, regularidad. No era ni tan teatrero o llorón.
Su estadía la recuerdo bien porque lo pedí cuando estuvo en Cobreloa, me parecía un jugadorazo y resulta que en el equipo más grande de Chile no cuajó. De hecho, me vacilaban por esa razón en foros y conversaciones de fútbol, me decían el bulto que se te ocurrió traer, ahí lo tienes.

Con la ida a Quilmes me das la razón. Un jugador con rendimiento óptimo en Colo Colo no se va a Quilmes, menos después de una temporada. Si hubiese tenido la campaña que tu viste, la directiva de ese entonces hubiese luchado por mantenerlo, en cambio lo dejaron ir envuelto en papel de regalo y con pelota incluída al club argentino por la compra.
Si no me equivoco, descendió a la Primera B, paso inadvertido por allá y no lo recuerdan muy bien. Revisa la noticia de su posible traspaso a Racing hace poco. Los comentarios son elocuentes al respecto.

Menos mal no sé nada y repites lo mismo que hace unos días escribí sobre Jara.

 

Make no mistake, Jara is still a crap defender by world cup standards. But we don't have enough to go around, so he should at least be on the bench.

 

Jara jugó un partidazo y eso sorprendió a todo el mundo (me incluyo): cuántos de nosotros esperábamos que anulase al propio Luis Suárez?

En fin, las opiniones de Sin Idea de Fútbol hay que tomarlas con un granito de arena: aunque te duele, Sampaoli le achuntó prácticamente a todo el martes y Díaz fue una de las grandes figuras (sino el mejor)...y como te dije, aunque te duela.

No me había dado cuenta, pero xuxa que tiene bien ganado su apellido, porque más "Piti" de lo que estuvo, imposible ............

 

ya well at the end of the day that's what it comes down to, a serious lack of viable alternatives. its not about whether he's good or bad, its about whether he's better or worse than the other options.

Chile has, at best, a handful of defenders that won't be blown off the pitch at south american qualifying level, and none of them are studs --> Pepe, Osvaldo, Marcos, Medel, Jara, Ponce, Contreras. two of these guys are injured and one of them is a midfielder.

during the beginning of that horrendous stretch that ended Borghi's term against colombia, only Marcos was available. thats when Vidal was tossed back there, and he did a half decent job against Falcao. we are really really vulnerable at the back and there really is no one in Chile that can keep up, even in their best games, against top south american talent.

so Jara has to be an alternative. if you're planning a 3 man backline where you rely on speed to block counterattacks from speedy and well footed forwards, you probably want Pepe-Medel-Jara at the back like agaisnt uruguay

if you're having a4 man backline or are not playing as deep in the middle, you probably want osvaldo or marcos in for jara like against peru.
btw, i'm sure that had sampaoli done what most thought he was going to, bring in Jara for Isla for the last 20 minutes in lima, we don't lose that game

depends on the opponent, but jara is easily a starter or the first man off the bench because of the lack of alternatives
