[R] Colo Colo U-23 vs Dallas Burn

Colo Colo comes out in what is a 4-4-2, but they play one center back high and one forward withdrawn, so it almost looks like a 3-6-2... Suffice to say there are lots of Colo Colo players in the middle of the field. Overall their strategy seems to clog up flow through Pareja and Deering.

Burn in white shirts, black shorts, and white socks. There is a not a lot of choice really, as American Airlines has lost the bag with the red jerseys in it. Consequently Colo Colo must wear their "road" jerseys: black shirts, black shorts, black socks. And you don't want to be wearing black as hot a it is today. Game is played with new MLS Puma balls.

    Colo Colo Lineup

    9 7
    10 8 3 16
    17 6 5 15
    1

    Burn Lineup

    Kreis Rhine
    Chivas Deering Pareja Vaca
    Broome Morrow Suarez Bonseu
    Countess

I can not imagine anyone in Santiago noticing this yet - tonite is the big cross town game between Universidad and Colo Colo (the full team, not the U-23's :-D)

    as for the scorers -

20' - GOAL Colo Colo leads 1-0. A defensive miscue by Dallas and the ball lands at the feet of #7, who cuts left and hits the back corner for the goal. Countess had no chance.

35' - GOAL Dallas Burn 1 - Colo Colo 1. Goalkeeper gets a hand to first corner from left, Vaca collects the ball and sends it back into traffic. Suarez digs the ball out and Kreis knocks it home.

40' - GOAL Dallas Burn lead 2-1. Chivas switches play, Vaca and Kreis work the left side. Kreis crosses to the back post where Rhine uses a burst to get the extra foot he needs to head home for the goal.

42' - GOAL Dallas leads 3-1. Pareja wins the ball in the midfield and swings it to Chivas. Chivas switches play to Rhine high right. Bobby tries to cut in and defender deflects the ball out wide right. Vaca picks up the lose ball and cross to Kreis who heads home for the goal.

43' - Morrow wins ball from #9 and plays over top to Chivas. Colo Colo defender runs him down and tackles the ball over the end line. Again Chivas thinks he is fouled, but ref says shoulder to shoulder charge and corner to Dallas.

GOAL Burn lead 4-1. Short corner to Deering, who crosses to Kreis for easy header. Beautiful play, simple yet effective.

    END OF HALF

Davis in for Vaca at right mid.
Colo Colo subs: #11 in for #10 at left mid, #4 in for #17 at left back, #18 in for #15 at right back, #15 in for #5 at higher center back.

63' - GOAL Burn leads 5-1. Chivas, Kreis, and Rhine work nice combination on left side. Chivas flicks the ball behind defense (was it tipped?). Rhine strolls in and chips keeper.

Colo Colo subs: #2 in for #7, #16 goes up top. #13 in for #9, #11 goes up top.

[R] Universidad de Chile vs. Dallas Burn

BURN TOPS UNIVERSIDAD DE CHILE, 2-0

DALLAS - The Dallas Burn, playing a mixture of reserves and trial players, won their second game in Chile today as they defeated a Universidad de Chile team of starters and reserves, 2-0.

The Burn went up 1-0 in the 18th minute on a goal from sixth round draft pick Andy Rosenband. Trialist Bruno Franco played a combination with Christian Uribe and Jordan Stone in the midfield, which freed Franco on the flank. Franco fed the ball into the box, with Rosenband one-timing the ball into the corner. The Burn closed out the scoring in the 53rd minute on a great effort by Carl Bussey. A Burn clearance out of the back found Rosenband near midfield. Rosenband sent a ball to Bussey just over the midfield stripe and Bussey made a long run into the box while shrugging off a defender before slotting the ball into the corner past the charging goalkeeper.

The Burn's next game is on Wednesday as they face Audax Italiano.

Burn Lineup: Jeff Cassar, Philip Salyer, Matt Behncke, Shavar Thomas, Chris Gbandi, Carl Bussey (Tenywa Bonseu 85'), Jordan Stone, Christian Uribe, Bruno Franco, Andy Rosenband (Antonio Martinez 63'), Arturo Bernhardt (Flavio Rodriguez 46')

Nope... last year I noticed because my boyfriend asked about it and then I tried to find some info.

They play the Chilean teams at the training fields, not real stadiums.

Yes - the referee situation was not good. By the way it was not a player from the Burn who was acting as an assistant referee - it was Coach Brian Haynes - former national team player for Trinidad & Tobago.

I wish the game reports gave the names of the players for both teams - it seems like the organizers of the games could ask that be provided, and to have all the players wear a numbered shirt even if they are only the reserve team.
