Chile busca organizar Copa América 2015

    El presidente de la Confederación Sudamericana de Fútbol (CSF), Nicolás Leoz, dio a conocer que Chile quiere organizar la Copa América del año 2015, que le corresponde a Brasil, pero que un año antes deberá organizar la Copa Confederaciones y el Mundial de Fútbol.

    Por la carga que significan aquellos eventos, el presidente de la federación chilena Harold Mayne-Nicholls señaló que la visita que realizará la presidenta Michelle Bachelet, en la Conmebol, servirá para proponer la idea de adelantar la realización chilena que originalmente le corresponde el 2019.

    "Si los brasileños desisten de organizar la Copa América 2015, veremos la posibilidad de adelantar el turno, pero les advierto que ya hay conversaciones entre las dos dirigencias de ambos países, incluso la presidenta de Chile visitará a la Conmebol el 23 de julio y ahí hablaremos del tema", afirmó Leoz.

    Por otro lado, Harold Mayne-Nicholls señaló que "hemos conversado con Ricardo Texeira (presidente del fútbol brasileño), pero sólo son conversaciones preliminares. Pero si no podemos el 2015 haremos una gran Copa el 2019. No podemos hablar de supuestos, no hay certeza absoluta, pero en la visita de la presidenta Bachelet a la Conmebol, donde se le rendirá un homenaje, está la opción también de plantear el tema ahí".

    I think we are pretty close to getting it. The Brazilians don't seem to be too enthusiastic about it.

    Although some of these stadiums are small, they meet all of FIFA requirements and could theoretically be used for a Copa America:

    Should be ready late next year... it shouldn't be long before they show the proposals for Concepcion, Rancagua and Valparaiso/Viña del Mar.

    At this point i wouldn't be surprised if Chile hosted Copa América in 2011.:(

    Anyway, also the new stadium Audax got and i heard O'Higgins is getting a new one too. So in total well have, including the ones built in 08/09 bout 10 new stadiums.

    Because it's really sad that they're letting this chance to renew old stadiums or build new ones go away like nothing, add to that that it would seem that there're many other countries that could put a better show than us with 2 years left on the road and no other tournaments ahead.
