The Wave defeated the Storm 12-8. The Storm had an 8-7 lead after three quarters but they had an own goal in the 4th and JP Rodrigues scored an empty net three pointer with 20 seconds left to put the game away. The crowd looked sparse to say the least. I also know NJ and Detroit went into OT tied at 14 but do not know the final score. Ryan Mack tied it for the Ignition with 5.8 seconds left in regulation. Update: The Ironmen website shows that Detroit won 16-14. The Ironmen who were supposed to be dominant are now 0-2.
I have only missed one game in 5 years but I was out of town that game The Storm had that game, they out played the Wave except that the Wave scored more goals which in the end is what really matters They had to many missed opportunities
To be fair, the weather was crappy and the highway wasn't as busy as it normaly is on a Sat. night. Still, good game, shame about the outcome and the guest appearance by that great player Owen Gohl. We got to talk to CJ Brown and half the Rockford Rampage squad after the game.
What was the jersey sponsor on the front of the jersey? Looked like MAYBE Comcast, but couldn't read it from where I was sitting. Aved still on the back. Jerseys this year had bigger numbers and bigger names - easier to read (except for sponsor). But not as nice as last year (but still better than the T-shirts they had a few years back. Crowd to me looked like 1500, not surprised by the 2600 announced. Richey had a rough game. The own goal was bad, and a three pointer went off his hands. Was a fun game, slow starting, but fun. Looked like Chicago played a bit better, lots of posts hit. Capt. Choas and company were in a new location. Why the move? Missed you behing the goal.
I think the Wave deserves a lot of credit for starting 2-0 with all the injuries they've had and the players they've lost. That includes Keith Tozer.
I thought that the 2610 announced was right on. We guesstimated about 2500 last night...so they have drawn as much as Rockford will draw truthfully probably the whole season. On to the game. First of all I know it was touched on last week but the new ball they use is out of control. It is like a rubber super ball. It bounces and bounces and bounces.... rebounds off the boards were winding up near midfield or into the crowd. The players are having a hard time adjusting. The game is sloppy because of this ball. MR. Loftin please address the ball situation!! Will Kletzien scored the worst own goal I ever remember seeing. AWEFUL! Mistakes happen but not like this. He should have been wearing a Wave jersey. The game was lost on that play. The Storm had the lead at that point and it would of been the Wave that would have gone 6th attacker and who knows what would of happened. The Storm offense is terrible. It can't all be the ball. The Storm lost too much in the off season. Too bad Tovar gained 100 pounds and wasn't able to walk away from the dinner table. Cerroni is a nice suprise but Armstrong has to step it up,he is our main weapon and he has done nothing. The Storm need to make a deal or try to find a goal scorer. Randi Patterson???? Why? The Storm did out-shoot the Wave 30-14 and Marcel Feenstra was awesome. Feenstra should be a starter in this league...watch out Vorberg. The Wave just aren't the same without Howes,King,Leite, and co. but they played well and won thanks to Mr. Kletzien.
--Good point on the Wave starting 2-0. --Someone else who watched an XSL game on B2 said the ball was an outdoor ball and terrible for indoors because it bounced too much. It looks cool, though. Conversely, everyone seems to like the PASL ball, but it's devoid of any personality (no design, just white with logos). --I think Feenstra is 7-0 now.
Maybe more people would have showed up if it wasn't snowing and weekend before Christmas. I myself was on my way to the game from Chicago and due to the crawling traffic everywhere and snow, decided just to get my shopping over with and go next time.
wow... I encountered no traffic and actually made it out there in good time I came out 53 to 90 west You watch, i think Randi will acclamate himself to the game, he has speed - youth & endurance - he will come around and I thnk you will be surprised - he had a few missed opportunities but in time you watch, some folks questioned bennett last year and he is an attacker of the ball And you have to admit - Storm has a lot of speed on that team They just fell a bit short last night
2610 announced for the home opener of an established team is absolutely horrible. This is not good news for the Storm. As for weather isn't people in the midwest used to cold weather. The game is played indoors and the Bears had people in the stands last night and the game was outdoors. Files averaging about 400 and the Storm about 1,500 actual attendance. What the hell is wrong with the fans in Illinois? I have to give the EHSL credit at least they announce crowds or in some cases small gatherings. I haven't heard about the small gathering in New Jersey or Detroit or Milwaukee for that matter, but then again maybe I don't know were to look. So basically Chicago, Files, and Twister and drawing fewer fans than the PSAL. HOLY TOLEDO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
People are always mad at me so I'm used to it. I'm not sure anyone likes an insurance adjuster. My entire job is centered around paying people the minimum and maximizing my companies profit, which they don't share with me. 8 more years of this mess and I'm retired. I think we all need some joy and I would like to see 5,000 paying fans at all indoor soccer games. It is the greatest sport that very few have paid to see.
saw in the paper today that the Arena Football league is on hold a whole league may fold sir - not sure if you read the papers or not but we are in kind of a recession - people do not have money and they are losing their homes and trying to feed their families with food and then to top it off maybe have a gift giving christmas Where is your humanity? your caring for your fellow man Big Soccer should start a forum where you can give - start a foundation or give new/used soccer equipment and disperse it out to those that need it
and, oh, by the way, nfl football is actually very popular. people who pay $300 or more for a ticket are going to use it more often than not. accessibility is only part of the problem in chicago/rockford.
