WPS Red Stars W-League Red Eleven RIP Windy city Bluez Rockford Dactyls (not Chicago but oh well) Chicago United Breeze FC Twente3 add any more that you can think off. (Div 2 and above please).
Looks like Red Eleven tryouts on May 8th at College of DuPage. Like the additions of Kara Kabellis and Erin Jacobsen to that team. I also heard that Victor from Marquette is playing. Midfield looks good with those players.
Here is more info about them, anyone lives by Libertyville? http://www.wpsl.info/team/indexn.php?tid=100&id=948 Schedule, only 3 home games. http://www.wpsl.info/team/indexs.php?tid=100
More info on the red Eleven http://www.uslsoccer.com/teams/2010/2742453.html#MAIN http://www.chicagoredeleven.com/ 6 home games 12 total, first home game May 29th http://www.uslsoccer.com/teams/2010/2742453.html#SCHEDULE http://www.chicagoredeleven.com/schedule/index_E.html
With the Red Stars and Fire gone for a month I'm going to see about going to a Red Eleven game or two.
Next home games: Chicago Eclipse Select June 20th 7pm June 23rd 7pm. Libertyville soccer Complex 1580 West Winchester Road Libertyville, IL 60048 Chicago Red Eleven Last 3 home games June 20th 2pm June 25th 8pm June 26th 8pm Benedictine University 5700 College Rd. Lisle, IL 60532
Final 3 home games for Red Eleven are: June 20 at 1pm (CST) June 25 at 7pm (CST) June 26 at 7pm (CST)
If you consider Elgin as part of Chicago there there is also the KUFC Pursuit that also play in the WPSL. They aren't having much of a first season and at the bottom of their division. I'm surprised that the Ecplise aren't doing better.
So we have: WPS Red Stars http://www.womensprosoccer.com/chicago/ W-League Red Eleven http://www.chicagoredeleven.com/ WPSL Chicago Eclipse Select http://www.wpsl.info/team/index.php?tid=100 KUFC Pursuit http://www.wpsl.info/team/index.php?tid=90 http://www.wpsl.info/schedule/index.php?home_division=All
That seems like a good way of keeping some public presence for the team without spending a whole lot of money (said by someone who kept up with the Washington Freedom's amateur team from 2004 to 2008).
Actually it looks like no more Chicago teams in either WPS or W-League in 2011 Red Stars not active in WPS Red Eleven not in W-League
with W-league and WPSL you never know what teams are in or out until right before the next season starts, so maybe by April-May 2011 we will know of any new or old Chicagoland area teams.
Well there is always hope - but for now the Red Eleven players from 2010 have been told by ownership that there will not be a team in 2011.
someone needs to get in touch with john nikchevich. he can make things happen. http://www.gofightingsaints.com/coach/8/14.php
It is sad to see teams going under. We need to do all we can to keep women playing soccer in this country - we have the talent! Club, HS, college [all full of elite talent] and then there seems to be a drop off after. Hopefully we can get more WPSL and W-League teams up and running for girls to keep playing during and out of college. Dayton Dutch Lions FC located in Dayton, Ohio are starting a USL W-League team this season. Share the news: tryouts are in a few weeks Feb 5! http://www.dutchlionsfc.com/cms/index.php/register-all-try-outs-dutch-lions-fc
