Section 8 is a collection of all groups who stand in the supporters sections at SF but section 8 now has officers, so are they an actual supporters group. Do all the other groups have officers, collect dues etc?
The group I used to belong to, the Fanaddicts, no longer collects dues or holds meetings. I used to pay dues to the Barnburners but never got a renewal notice, do they still collect dues?

No one said you need to join or form a group. A majority of people in section 8 are independents.

 

Section 8 Chicago is not a supporters group. It's an umbrella type organization that works with any and all supporters, supporters groups and the club to ensure that the Fire has the best support in the MLS. Each individual supporters group is free to run their group how ever they see fit (ie dues, membership, officers etc). Section 8 Chicago does not control any of these groups, it simply exists to enhance the relationship between these groups, independant supporters and the club.
There will be lots of information concerning Section 8 and some of the supporters clubs at Fire Fest this Saturday. Everyone is strongly encouraged to attend.

 

If standing and cheering in S8 is all you are looking for, that's fine. But supporter's groups have other events, like the BarnBurner's tailgate and soccer league, which are rewards for members. Section 8 Chicago is not a supporter's club, as Jay said.

Section 8 is the section in the stadium where everyone can go and chant, sing, drink beer and yell.
