Nice to see we got something in return for Andy. I wonder which round of the draft we'll end up getting this pick.

It depends, but it mostly has to do with what the player does for the year, the better the Fire do with Williams, the higher the pick will be. If they finish 10th, it won't be as good.

Of course, details of such deal are kept confidential for months on end until everyone forgets about them...

If Williams leads the league in scoring (yeah yeah, I know, but just play along), we would likely get a 1st or 2nd round pick. If he gets cut, we very likely get nothing. That happened last year. We traded Winston Griffiths to LA for a conditional pick. LA cut him, we got nothing.

And trade DJ Countess for him!!! Thanks OZ! Imagine what we could have gotten for DJ this summer from Dallas or SJ.

One of the other factors in this is that Chicago owes NE a draft pick (either a #1 pick or a #2). My memory is fuzzy on this but as I recall, it's a likely a #1 pick unless it's among the top first rounders (like the top 4) and then it's a number #2 pick.

If you assume that Chicago is depleted, does poorly this year and their #1 pick would be high, then it's a second round pick they're sending to NE. In which case it would likely be something like a #3 pick that is the conditional pick for Andy Williams.

Oh. My bad, I thought that was from something else. That whole series of trades surrounding Countess confused the hell out of me. (For instance, until I went back and checked, I could have sworn that LA had sent us a 2nd rounder non-conditional pick.). Thanks for picking up on that Dan.
