Chicago - San Jose MLS Cup 2003 (Sunday, 11/23) pregame thread       Will San Jose be the first Bay Area pro sports team in the 21st Century to hoist its second championship trophy?       Will Chicago be the first team in MLS history to win the vaunted U.S. Treble?       The Earthquakes' Frank Yallop becoming only the second two-time MLS Cup winning head coach? The Fire's Dave Sarachan following Bruce Arena, Bob Bradley and Yallop as the fourth first-year head coach to win the MLS Cup?       Discuss.       GO EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
Chicago - San Jose MLS Cup 2003 (Sunday, 11/23) pregame thread Look for the drunk guy with the broken nose named Carlos, all is well, ALL IS WELL !! Thanks everyone, see you at the HDC !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Re: Chicago - San Jose MLS Cup 2003 (Sunday, 11/23) pregame thread Wow. Your nose seemed fine pregame. What happened?
I'll be there in spirit, guys... as always. Live not only on ABC there, but on ESPN International here, at 7:30 a.m. Monday morning, the 24th. Guys, I can't start to analyse the game against Chicago, I haven't stopped crying tears of joy since the last game against the Wizards ended... and that was 90 minutes ago. And my wife still thinks I'm nuts for doing so. Innundate her PM box and explain this madness to her, will ya? Now, back to drinking myself stupid...
Trust me... every MLS fan watched and/or listened to this one as it happened (as they did with the Fire-Revolution game yesterday)!       GO EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
Chicago - San Jose MLS Cup 2003 (Sunday, 11/23) pregame thread Nothing, sorry I mislead you. Alot of people remember me by my nose unfortunately. I'll see you guys in LA - Carlos
Key questions for the match: - Will Mulrooney, Ekelund, & Agoos be rested & recovered? - Will DeRosario be able to start? - Will the Quakes be able to muster some decent crowd support? - And most importantly, will our defense be up to snuff? (Surely Chicago will punish our defensive mistakes.) - No wait, most important: who will be the ref?
i wonder if the fire fans are feeling ancy going into next week...you gotta admit it's going to be hard to feel comfortable at nil-nil let alone down or with a lead after the past few weeks... whatever else happens, we got there, we deserved it and now we need to reclaim what should have been ours in the first place...the title of best team in MLS!!!! GO QUAKES!!!!!!!!
Question for the Casbah Just wanting to know what the plan is for going down to LA. I already got my little road trip going with a couple of friends, but it would be fun going all together (dont know if there is already a thread for this.) And what section is the Casbah going to sit at? And also, which hotel are the Quakes going to stay at? We aforoozed those non-believers
We are taking over sections 126 and 127. These are in the northeast corner of the Toolbox. Club Quake's group purchase is in 126, and as of tonight there were still tickets available. Contact Pat Bernal at events@clubquake.org for more info. If you order through Club Quake your tickets will be reserved for you at will call. Get to the stadium early to pick up will call tickets because who knows how the lines will be. Also, MLS has set aside section 127 for fans of the Western Conference champion. Well, that's us. To get tickets in this section call the Galaxy ticket office at 1-877-3-GALAXY and ask for the SJ fans' section in section 127. After Wednesday, whatever tickets are left in 127 will be released for general public sale, so buy early and often. If none of this works for you, go to Ticketmaster.
Expect a pro Chicago crowd. All the midwest transplants plus the Galaxy fans. Better get some numbers down here!!
Who's Going? This is awesome, after 7 years of season tickets and 3 years of driving three hours for every home Quakes game I have the chance of going to see the Quakes play in the MLS Cup (won't be bad just another 3 hour trip from Cal Poly). Honestly although the trip will be great, I already feel that this has been the best season. I feel regardless of the MLS Cup results that the last two home games have been the climax of the many years of watching the Quakes. As many of us were able to see it in person and have those great experiences in the stadium. (Anyone in the casbah: will I be able to bring my bongo? We already have tickets in one of the sections bought through club quake) Anyways, who else will be there? Quakes all the way

"We're all going on an LA holiday No more working for a day or two Sun and laughter on an LA holiday And beat the rednecks too "We're going where the sun shine brightly We're going where the sea is bloooooooh We've seen it in the movies Now let's see if it's true "Sun and laughter on a summer holiday And beat the rednecks too, ooh, ooh And beat the rednecks too" (to the tune of "Summer Holiday" by Cliff Richard)
Chicago - San Jose MLS Cup 2003 (Sunday, 11/23) pregame thread It's like what Sean Connery said to Christopher Lambert when he was his mentor in Highlander. . . THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE!!!
I have to admit that i'm a bit surprised you hate us more than them..honoured, naturally, but still surprised.
Best Quote from Ekelund [R] Just reading through the post-game quotes on MLS' website to come across something that all of us who were at the game, and those who watched should feel proud to hear, and speaks for the passion found in MLS by its fans and supporters...kudos!!! SAN JOSE MIDFIELDER RONNIE EKELUND On crowd: "The crowd was the twelfth guy, for me it was like playing back in England the way the crowd picked us up." www.mlsnet.com/
This should be a good game!       The one game this season that Chicago beat the Earthquakes 4-1 was when the latter was missing a lot of starters (including starting goalkeeper Pat Onstad due to international duty). The other two times the teams met this year, both sides were at near or full strength and both games ended in draws.       Excellent point! Don't forget that just about every preseason prediction around BigSoccer and elsewhere had the Quakes finishing last or near-last in the league - basically, they were predicted to be where Dallas eventually ended up.       While it would be a shame to lose the upcoming game, I'm still proud of the guys and what they've accomplished... this season should already be considered a success, regardless of the outcome of this game (that doesn't meant that I don't want the Quakes to win it all, though )!       GO EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
Chicago - San Jose MLS Cup 2003 (Sunday, 11/23) pregame thread Let's bring it home baby!!!!!!!! WE WANT A CUP!!!!!!
I just wanted to congratulate you guys on a great win. This year, the final will not only be between the two best teams in the league, but the two teams that showed the most heart throughout the season and playoffs. Enjoy the victory, you've earned it. I have a feeling we're in for a great final.
