The fascism on full display. They do not even try to hide it. Rep. Wesley Hunt (R-Texas) on Wednesday said if Americans obey orders from federal officers, “you get to keep your life,” hours after an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer shot and killed a Minnesota woman. “The bottom line is this: When a federal officer gives you instructions, you abide by them and you get to keep your life,” Hunt said on Newsmax’s “Carl Higbie Frontline.” “And it is clear that she tried to use her vehicle as a weapon, mow over an ICE agent, and now she is dead,” the Texas Republican continued. “And her death is tragic, but at the end of the day it was completely avoidable if she would have simply followed the commands of the ICE agents.”
A. Deadly force may not be used solely to prevent the escape of a fleeing suspect. B. Firearms may not be discharged solely to disable moving vehicles. Specifically, firearms may not be discharged at a moving vehicle unless: (1) a person in the vehicle is threatening the officer or another person with deadly force by means other than the vehicle; or (2) the vehicle is operated in a manner that threatens to cause death or serious physical injury to the officer or others, and no other objectively reasonable means of defense appear to exist, which includes moving out of the path of the vehicle. Firearms may not be discharged from a moving vehicle except in exigent circumstances. In these situations, an officer must have an articulable reason for this use of deadly force.
Let’s just stop protesting so they can’t shoot us anymore. 2 shot by federal agents in Portland, police say https://www.oregonlive.com/crime/20...of-shooting-by-federal-immigration-agent.html
I’m the Mayor of Minneapolis. Trump Is Lying to You. In mid-December, ICE agents were filmed dragging a pregnant woman through the street. Heavily armed agents have been deployed to arrest lone individuals in public libraries and malls. Even in the aftermath of this week’s shooting, ICE agents continued to spread chaos, apparently deploying chemical agents at a local public high school. The Trump administration’s false narrative about this week’s shooting, and the demonization of the victim, are only part of a bigger lie. It wants the American public to believe that ICE’s heavily militarized crackdown across this country is an effort to keep cities like Minneapolis safe. It is not. https://www.nytimes.com/2026/01/08/us/minnesota-ice-shooting-news.html State officials initially said they would investigate the killing. But Drew Evans, the superintendent of the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, said on Thursday that the agency had withdrawn because it had been denied access to evidence. At a news conference in New York City on Thursday, Kristi Noem, the homeland security secretary, said that Minnesota and Minneapolis officials had failed to maintain order. “They have not been cut out,” Ms. Noem told a reporter who had asked about state investigators. “They don’t have any jurisdiction in this investigation.”
Looks like we might be going to war with Mexico. Trump says US will start 'hitting land' targeting cartels 'running Mexico https://www.newsweek.com/trump-says...and-targeting-cartels-running-mexico-11333304 Well, he DID offer first Trump says he’s offered to send US troops to Mexico, doesn’t think ‘we need any action’ in Cuba https://apnews.com/video/trump-said...tion-in-cuba-567c13553a5a4503bf1630fa6a1b94f8 Mexico is like, "Um, no!" Sadly, it was clear from the 3 or 4 congress folk that after the 'debrief' they stated they were 'shocked and disappointed' that there would be more use of the carrier group in the Caribbean. That plus the BS 'Don Monroe' blather...sigh.
I have been saying for a while that we have approximately two possibilities this year - Civil War II, World War III, or both. Strap in, gonna be a long year.
It's getting worse and devolving rapidly. Yesterday: -Two MORE people were shot by ICE -We may be going to war with (checks chart) Mexico -The US has pulled out 66 International Agreements/Organizations And -German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier (as did French leader M Macron) says that the United States is destroying the world order. "there is the breakdown of values by our most important partner, the USA, which helped build this world order” in the first place." -(this was on Tuesday, but reported today) Spain Prime Minister is directly calling out Trump, calling the US invasion of Venezuela: "a terrible precedent and a very dangerous one [which] reminds us of past aggressions, and pushes the world toward a future of uncertainty and insecurity, similar to what we already experienced after other invasions driven by the thirst for oil” https://www.theguardian.com/world/l...acron-germany-merz-europe-latest-news-updates https://www.theguardian.com/comment...n-ranks-in-europe-and-dared-to-confront-trump https://www.whitehouse.gov/presiden...ntrary-to-the-interests-of-the-united-states/ https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/jan/07/trump-international-groups-un
Yeah, it is going to get crazy and I don’t know, feels unprecedented but I’m admittedly not that well versed in history outside of the US, but we could have the US warring internally with the President’s own paramilitary (ICE) conducting attacks domestically, and the largest military in the history of the world (I think?) essentially fighting Latin America and also fighting whomever is defending Greenland. I mean, unless Trump just decides to stop being the worst human, which is about as likely as me growing a third hand.
Um, that would be NATO. ALOT of Americans are not recognizing how viciously wrong this all could turn.
i.e., the United States! If we were take any sort of military action would (under NATO Article 5) be declaring "war" on ourselves.
Every damn time I think ‘nothing more will surprise me’… The guy pled guilty to heinous pedo crimes! 2011492473881686416 is not a valid tweet id
He was facing 100 years in prison and $250,000 in fines. He will be "remembered" as the asshole who used the screen name "joebidennnn69" for his criminal sexual activity. The interesting thing about RJ May's case is the incredible speed with which all of this happened. May, 2024 the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children receive a "tip" about him. August, 2024, his house was searched and criminal investigation begins. October, 2024, there were filings to delay indictment while the investigation continued. He was reelected in 2024 (of course). June, 2025, he was indicted. July, 2025 there was an Ethics Committee action (Who knew South Carolina had ethics?). August 11, 2025 he resigned. September, 2025, the court proceedings began. By the end of September, 2025 he had pled guilty, with sentencing for this week. Not in the least bit surprising: he characterized himself as a "family values" Christian Conservative during his campaigns, was a well known "Christian firebrand," a member of the South Carolina legislature "Freedom Caucus," was all up on the "anti-trans" bullcrap, and he was he past executive director for the SC Club for Growth. He was "Mom's for Liberty" legislator of the year in 2023. Of course, he was also married and two minor children. Fortunately, his wife dumped his sorry, criminal ass.
So Trump pardoned a guy who pleaded guilty to being a pedophile, while America, including many of his biggest supporters, are waiting on the release of the Epstein files? The race to the bottom continues to pick up speed.
Such a large part of Trump's base was fevered about the Epstein files and Pizza-gate and, and...and yet still support him? Does not compute
Opinions likely very on Durbin, no one is perfect, but this right here would be a hell of a legacy...if it can be completed. 2011552727751393713 is not a valid tweet id IMO, overturning Citizens United is a foundational piece to being able to restore some sense of 'by the people for the people'. Separation of corporation and state!
We don't need an amendment. Pritzker could end it next week (it's a short week so maybe two weeks) if he wanted to. I've only just become aware of this path forward but Nebraska (Montana?) is attempting it. As I understand it, the basis for Citizens United is that Corporations can only do what they are empowered to do and that is defined by the states. So any state can theoretically limit Corporations from doing business in that state if they donate any money to politics. The Supreme Court ruling basically said states allow this and that's their problem.
I heard/read about that, but I think that's an even 'higher hurdle', in that states have to be willing to push corporations out....and the large majority are recruiting them in (jobs, taxes, investments, etc)...and it doesn't fix the rest of the states and fed. For now, I think the SCOTUS overturning it due to a handful of assumptions/basis that they made the decision on are not holding true (transparent, undirected by candidates, etc).
Yes, California or New York would be best suited to do it. But getting them to do it (with a few others) is probably easier or at least quicker than an amendment.
GOOD! I must have been duped by a rogue post...that said, there was a batch of pardons today in which 21 names remain to be published
