Sure. And if there are underutilized facilities where whitey on the North Side lives, they too should be looked at. As well as ancient facilities that may have become too expensive, and/or impractical to maintain.

At the same time, one would suspect that operating bus routes where safe passage is required would be a better use of resources than keeping underutilized facilities in place. As well as giving more folks working opportunities that would otherwise not be available to them.

Getting underutilized/ancient facilities back on the property tax rolls is another benefit of schools-to-housing, while making housing more available to Chicagoans.

I can't speak to turning around a "failing school," but I'd also suspect that it isn't "impossible" to do.

Nothing is impossible, but you need the right competent motivated people to do it, and while they do exist CPS does not have them in droves.

Let me guess: there's nothing we can do about the historical atrocity of red lining in Chicago?

    ¿Qué?

What does the history of limiting where someone can borrow to purchase real estate have anything to do with re-purposing underutilized properties that are currently off the tax rolls?

Not paid nearly enough to care. Plus you think stupid children is part of the problem? The government wants us smart enough to pull levers all day and dumb enough to not question why. And now ai exists to replace most of the high level stuff at some point.

  10. Nice little history of police uniforms which ends with the question of identifying police today.

No identification? Shoot first and don’t bother asking questions later.

  12. Buy yourself a POLICE t-shirt or ICE patch for the back of your tactical vest and you can shoot without questions too. They'll throw in the tactical face mask for free.

Apparently regime change has begun. The Israelis allegedly bombed the gates of Iran's political prison and it's opened the floodgates so to speak. Amnesty being offered to lower level police and military, due process (something we don't even have here in the states) offered to senior officials. A transitional government being set up and secure communication lines being opened so people can defect the old regime safely.

I only got this from one source but it was being describe as Iran's version of the falling of the Berlin Wall.

  18. Not doubt as the population got younger and technology advanced the theocracy was on borrowed time. I saw a rando tweet over the weekend (probably BS) that the Pahlavi that's heir to the throne was in play. Bringing those crooks back would be beyond STOOOOOOPID.

Let's hope the Iranians make it work as well as the Germans.

New York, copying old skool Milwuakee, elects a Democratic Socialist as mayor, who is Muslim.

Just waiting for ignorant right-wing comments.
