Spotshotter doesn’t work though. It also does not deter criminals, and the money wasted on it would be better spent on the root causes of crime.
Kentucky officials say sheriff fatally shot judge in courthouse chambers The Letcher County sheriff is expected to be charged with first-degree murder in the death of Judge Kevin Mullins, Kentucky State Police said Thursday night. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/rcna171902
What the ******** does this moron know about Martin Luther King? And what makes him think this shit is appropriate?
This is an insane headline: The Lebanon explosions raise a question: Deep into the smartphone era, who is still using pagers? Not, ”who caused this terrorist attack that indiscriminately killed and injured innocent people with a war crime for using booby traps and untargeted munitions”, but “Who is still using pagers” is what the AP takes from the story. White Privilege at its finest!
Maybe my understanding of the word “precise” is different than what the Associated Press uses… https://apnews.com/article/lebanon-...ptember-2024-c4751957433ff944c4eb06027885a973
Yes, it was JUST 6 people killed, ONLY six apartment buildings and FEWER THAN 100 people injured. Really
We’ve discussed this before but you ghosted on a response. There is no good answer so I understand. Pulling funds to Israel might prevent them from going to war any further, but it wouldn’t end the war. It would be analogous to pulling the funding for Ukraine to stop them from fighting. They would have to stop but the war wouldn’t end. None of my lefty friends can take the discussion point beyond step one. But what are steps two through ten? Without being willing or able to answer that, step one can’t realistically go forward.
You absolutely can pull the funding until Israel demonstrates it can act with a modicum of respect for human rights The Ukraine example is terrible because Israel is the aggressor and Ukraine is the victim of Russian aggression we give Israel $3.5 billion annually for its military defense — since October 7 we’ve given them over $10 billion for genocide — you stop that immediately why is the United States and our tax dollars responsible for defending a murderous Israeli military at the expense of tens of thousands of lives and millions of lives displaced?
unless you are starting from a position where Israel lives and safety are more important than others then it is not hard: you stop funding their military until they stop being aggressors
The White House applauds: https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing...t-joe-biden-on-the-death-of-hassan-nasrallah/
every statement starts with Israel's right to defend itself when Israel has been operating an apartheid state for decades and continues to occupy palestenian land
mass walkout of ambassadors at Netanyahu's speech at the UN yesterday history will judge the United State's support of this massacre very poorly
Ukraine is a perfect example. We’re not talking about empathy, we’re talking about the cause and effect of spending. If we stop funding Ukraine, Ukraine disappears. If we stop funding Israel, Israel disappears. That’s just the starting point. If we can’t agree on that, then we have a fundamental disagreement about the reality of the world. Based on precedent though, pretty clearly much of the Middle East leans towards genocide when it comes to Israel. But the bottom line is if we unilaterally pull the plug on Israel as an idea many lefties currently promote, Israel is gone. If you want to pull back the talk of unilaterally pulling military aid and make the aid contingent, that’s a different topic and one that has legs.
you need to show your work on "we stop funding israel, israel disappears" if they're in such a vulnerable position then why are they aggressively, proactively attacking all of Gaza, Lebanon, Iran and why does the existence of israel need to supercede the existence of palestine? sure, cut all military funding and continue whatever non-military funding is in place
I loved this quote from the White House: Because, like, everything was great up until October 7th, right?
Based on precedent though, pretty clearly much of the Middle East leans towards genocide when it comes to Israel. And like I said, if you can’t agree with that sentiment (or are OK with it) we have a fundamental difference of opinion that makes the conversation about two completely different topics simultaneously. But you might be alone in believing Israel wouldn’t be destroyed if we pulled out.
israel is not sitting there and getting pummeled from all sides such that the existence to the state of israel is being threatened israel is going forth and bombing people in multiple countries this victim position for israel is a strawman israel is bombing and killing palestenian civilians -- nearly 50,000 dead and millions displaced from their homes, cities destroyed, hospitals and schools destroyed, it will take decades to recover the destruction is being financed by united states military aid it is evil and the leaders in our country that are approving the use of our dollars for this destruction have blood on their hands
