I like this acquisition, but this is the second DP player from Seattle that the Fire have taken on. I almost feel like we are to Seattle as Chivas USA is to the Galaxy.

I'll take sloppy seconds again. He's a very good player who plays in a position we need. Today is a good day.

Finally!!! It is what our club has been missing for 3 days! A Uruguyan! We haven't had one of these since we loaned out Puppo. I thought we were going to see a dip at Toyota Park attendance once the Uruguayans stopped coming. Glad to see they'll be back!

Or stuff it at the bottom of a land fill where it'll suffocate next to the rotting corpse of Jimmy Hoffa.

I'm actually pretty happy with this move. He's a very good player, and hopefully he'll be even better on real grass.

Well, this is at least as promising as our last few midseason rebuildings. Let's hope it works!

Yeah. I've been as bad as anyone bitching about or latest moves or lack thereof but the last few days have been good moves by klopas.

We got rid of two dead weights and we added a proven replacement for Pappa for allocation. I wouldn't be surprised if he's sold now.

But if we dont, then it's hard to argue that we have one of the best MLS midfields right now. If the dutch boy can finish easy chances and headers...we might yet threaten for more than the wild card spot.

I am with the majority of you guys. I mentioned in the thread about Alvaro Fernandez that I like this signing as the guy plays for a strong Uruguayan national side and he's only 26. He seems to be a good addition. If we could get Grazzini back than I would say we'd have a really strong midfield. Even without him it's not that bad at all. But if we can get him back we could have Alex coming off the bench and he's a good sub to come on in cases of offense. I'm really hoping that this means that Rolfe will be starting up top as a striker and that Fernandez will play the CAM role.

  21. Agree that this means a formation and lineup change. Can't see playing Pause ahead of Pardo though. I'd sit Pause, play a 4-1-4-1 or a 4-1-3-2. Could even play a 4-3-3. With all of this attacking talent, it's hard to see who sits, but either Pause or Pardo must. I vote that it's Pause.

I think the majority of us would agree that Pardo should play before Pause but I think loyalty will win out and because Pause is our captain it might look bad to start benching your captain.

Again this shouldn't matter, even FK said in preseason with Robayo coming in that Pause might sit. It turned out that Robayo couldn't handle it here, so Pause wasn't replaced. If Pardo gives us a better chance of winner then it should be Pardo starting and Pause to the bench (regardless if he's the captain).

pause is simply the better option in any 1 cdm attacking formation.pardo just doesnt have it to cover like he used to.thats not saying he isnt the more talented player, i just dont think he should be put in the spot of always having to use his smarts and experience.

Agreed. Pause has the legs to chase and cover more ground. Pardo does not at this point in his career.
